Director of Christian Education

Job Description:
The Congregational Church of Westborough (CCW) seeks a 20 hour/ week Director of Christian Education for the 2012-2013 church school year to oversee, guide and foster its church school ministry and youth groups. This program offers an ideal opportunity for candidates interested in helping develop creative growth oriented programming while nurturing existing programs. The CCW has a long successful history as a teaching parish and is open to candidates in seminary as well as those with backgrounds in educating children and Christian education. The CCW subscribes to UCC philosophy and safe church practices in its hiring and programming.

Job Summary
Coordinate and direct children and youth education programs.
Supervise Youth Group Coordinator
Act as a resource for the Church School Team, CE Board, Youth Group Leaders and parents.
Participate in Staff meetings and Christian Education Board meetings.
Nurture families and assimilate them into the life of the church. Outreach to children and families whose attendance has dropped off.
Work to ensure program visibility in the community to grow size and scope of program.

Time requirements: 20 hours / week, 44 weeks a year, August - June. Flexible schedule includes Sunday mornings plus monthly staff meetings, supervision with pastor, monthly CE meetings, planning and outreach. Start date is negotiable, with a preference for a start in early August, pending CORI clearance.
