Worship can mean many things to many people. The great people at this church, who have a heart to serve, believe that worship is an active form of honoring and loving our Holy Father twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, in all we do. There are many parts of the Worship Ministry, including a Praise Band, Soloists and Worship Teams, Drama, Horn Ministry, and audio and video.

In addition to being able to lead the people into worship by relating to all ages, the right person for this position will be a leader, a recruiter, a teacher, a mentor, a shepherd, a uniter, and someone with strong vocal and instrumental skills. A Degree in Music is preferred, with an emphasis in voice being a plus!

This church is a great place for an energetic, organized, relational person to lead worship that transcends modern, contemporary and traditional genres. The location is fantastic—lying within the metropolitan area of Columbus, this community is considered one of the best places to live in the United States because of its jobs, education, safety, and access to leisure activities. Additionally, the county has also been called one of the country’s best places to raise a family, based on cost of living, reasonably priced homes, quality of schools, and short commute times. It is also noted for its historical central business district, which features a number of antique shops. But it is a very contemporary community—close to the big city, but with a small-town feel. POSITION TITLE: PRAISE & WORSHIP PASTOR
LOCATION: COLUMBUS AREA, OH
SALARY RANGE: COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE

JOB DESCRIPTION / DUTIES:

• Working with the Teaching Pastors, plan Sunday morning services, creatively using multi-media that supports text and applications
• Cast vision and provide oversight to all aspects of the Praise and Worship ministry
• Recruit, direct and shepherd volunteers in the band, vocal and technical areas
• Communicate scriptural concepts in rehearsals and worship
• Assess theological soundness of lyrics
• Lead by example, organize, rehearse and equip volunteer vocalists and instrumentalists
• Direct worship team and band rehearsals as necessary
• Provide support for other worship/arts/technical needs

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 4-5 years experience leading worship
• Ability to lead people into worship; create emotion
• Proficiency in playing piano and guitar with the ability to lead from both
• Music degree preferred--voice emphasis a plus
• Leader with a proven record of shepherding and mentoring leaders
• Experience as a leader and recruiter of volunteers in all areas of Praise and Worship Ministry in a church of 500 or more in attendance with multiple services
• Relate to all age levels through Praise and Worship
• Experience in leading worship that transcends modern, contemporary and traditional genres
• Must have strong vocal skills
• Ability to chart and write/arrange music for instruments and voices
• Good at teaching/leading the team
• Be a unifier--bring the organization together
• Possess skills of organization, consistency, and structure, as well as being relational
• Experience doing things with musical teams in the community
• Experience in sound booth operation and recording; video experience a plus
• Must be a team player—works well in a team atmosphere
• Must possess a teachable heart
• Desires to become Elder qualified according to 1 Timothy 3
