Job Description for Worship Leader Faith Covenant Church

We are looking for a person/persons to be a worship leader and/or to direct our choir. This could be the same person but we understand that this could be two different people who possess specific gifts in these two different areas. Please indicate if you applying for one or both positions.

Faith Covenant Church is located in Westerville, Ohio (a NE suburb of Columbus) and is looking for a part-time worship leader. We currently have a blended service, using both contemporary worship as well as traditional elements such as hymns. We are looking for an energetic person to help us to continue to grow in our music ministry as we continue to become more contemporary in our worship style. If you are a gifted, passionate, creative leader who is looking for a place to use your gifts to glorify God and lead others to do the same we want to talk to you.

The Primary Task of the Worship Leader:
To lead the church’s worship and/or choir ministries, recruit and cultivate volunteers, and participate in the organization of the worship services.

Responsibilities of the Worship and/or Choir Leader:
1. Organize and lead the worship and choir ministries of Faith Covenant Church.
a. Plan all music for our Sunday Worship Service
b. Actively lead the worship music each week during our service.
i. Currently this is 3 worship songs in the beginning and gathering and closing songs.
ii. This also will include practice times for the band.
c. Direct the anthem choir. (This ministry runs from September to May.)
i. Currently they practice on Wednesdays evenings and sing in the worship service approximately twice a month.
2. Recruit and cultivate the volunteers of the music ministry.
3. Participate in the organization of the worship service.
a. Provide insights to the multimedia presentations, drama, style, and other aspects of the worship service.

Communication Links:
Will report to the Senior Pastor and work closely with the Worship and/or Choir Ministry Team.

Basic Qualifications for All Faith Covenant Church Ministry Team Leaders:
1. One who is committed to God, having a testimony of conversion to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and fulfills the Biblical standard of a church leader.
2. One who is committed to the ministry of Jesus Christ through Faith Covenant Church.
a. Affirm the Vision Statement of the church:
i. Transforming lives through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
1. Seed verse of 2 Thessalonians 2:8
a. Agree with the Evangelical Covenant Church’s Affirmations:
b. Attend worship regularly.
c. Exhibit a teachable spirit and participate in a weekly spiritual growth event.
3. One who has a heart desire for the specific ministry to which he/she has been called.
4. Become a member of Faith Covenant Church.

Additional Qualifications Needed for the Worship Leader Position:
1. 3+ years of involvement in worship ministry.
2. Formal education in music would be a plus.

Our previous worship leader was with us for 12 years and has stepped down to follow her professional Christian music and writing career, so you would be continuing a great ministry in our church.
