Introduction to SCC
Snohomish Community Church is a 19-year-old church plant less than an hour north of Seattle. The church has grown to about 1000 in Sunday attendance and features well-rounded ministries to all ages, as well as active missions and community outreach programs. Our current Student Ministries Pastor of 6 years is transitioning out of student ministries to plant our first multisite location in North Lake Stevens and help lead SCC’s new multisite strategy.
SCC is strongly evangelical in its doctrinal position. Our current staff carries educational credentials from places like: Moody Bible Institute, Biola University, Prairie Bible Institute, and Dallas Theological Seminary.
Position Description: The role of the Student Ministries Pastor is to oversee the ministry and reach out to local junior high and high school students. Reports directly to Family Ministry Pastor.
Ministry to Students: The Student Ministry Pastor will develop ministry and outreach to Junior High and High School students. Responsibilities include:
a. Assessing ministry needs and developing programs and activities to meet those needs.
b. Serving as an inspiring, equipping, and supporting teacher to our students on a regular/weekly basis as part of a larger plan for the spiritual development of our students.
c. Developing an environment conducive to the proclamation of God’s Word and worship.
d. Addressing specific personal and spiritual needs of students as they arise through individual or small group meetings, or other connections made throughout the week.
e. Developing a climate for students that is safe, supportive, and cultivates spiritual growth.
f. Developing an evangelistic strategy that reaches unchurched youth.
Ministry to Leaders and Workers: The Student Ministry Pastor will provide supervision and development of ministry leaders and workers. Responsibilities include:
a. Identifying ministry leaders and developmental process.
b. Developing leaders who can love and lead our students effectively, both individually and in small groups.
c. Oversee, plan and implement staff recruitment, training and development.
d. Serve as manager by conducting leader performance evaluations, providing ongoing informal performance feedback, and reporting to the Family Pastor regarding ministry activity and performance.
e. Work with the Family Ministries Team to provide communication, resources, and support to parents.
Ministry to Parents: The Student Ministry Pastor will work with the Family Ministry Team to develop resources for parents. Responsibilities include:
a. Creating resources that help equip parents to disciple their children.
b. Responsive communication that builds bridges with parents.
c. Listening to parents felt needs and giving biblical direction as necessary.
d. Developing a strategy to help integrate parents into the life of SCC.
Additional Responsibilities: The Student Ministry Pastor will strengthen the programs and activities with students through:
a. Developing goals and objectives for student ministry area in line with the church wide vision.
b. Development and implementation of an annual calendar of activities and programs that include both growth and outreach.
c. Development and management of the annual budget for Student Ministries.
d. Responsive and mature communication with students, parents, leaders and adults in and outside of the church through personal interaction, Facebook, email, and telephone contacts.
e. Develop relationships with schools, churches, and parachurch organizations that support our efforts to reach students in the church and the community.
Evaluation and Compensation: The Student Ministries Pastor will provide monthly reporting on ministry accomplishments and activities. The Family Ministries Pastor will conduct annually a performance evaluation and review of compensation package.
