Job Description:
Grace Fellowship Church is a church of 1000+ worshipers near Athens, Georgia (home of the University of Georgia). Grace is a growing, multi-cultural church seeking a qualified youth pastor for junior and senior high school students from a multi-county area. This position will report directly to the Senior Pastor.

The ideal candidate exhibits a servant’s heart and proven leadership ability to grow and maintain an effective student ministry. The candidate must be a self-starter and team player able to formulate teams and equip leaders. Preferred applicants will have a four-year degree in Theology/Christian education or a related field and a minimum of 2 years experience in leading and inspiring growing student ministries.

Ministry Responsibility

Empowering students for life and ministry through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Service Programing (Worship):
Develop a dynamic midweek gathering of students which provides worship, Bible teaching and life application in a fun life-giving environment that will engage students who follow Jesus and attract students who are far from God.
Plan and conduct special events (e.g. the mix, concerts, kickoff services) that will serve as evangelism tools for students to bring their unchurched friends.
Research, strategize, implement and assess age appropriate developmental best practices for middle school school male and female students.

Spiritual Formation (Connect):
Provide continuity of spiritual oversight and care in the development of spiritual growth through small groups.
Develop and enhance small group environments be defining and applying benchmarks for spiritual growth for both students and adult leaders.
Work in cooperation with the Family Ministries Pastor, Children’s Director and College pastor in continued development spiritual formations for all students at Grace Fellowship.
Provide ample opportunity for intergenerational mentoring, service, and ministry within the greater church body.

Leadership Development (Serve)
Develop and implement strategies for recruiting, training, and mentoring student and adult leaders in order to multiply the ministry.
Provide opportunities for students and adults to partner in service during midweek services, weekend services, small groups, and other ministry settings.
Plan, schedule and implement training events, service opportunities and short term mission trips that will assist in the development of spiritual gifts, teamwork, ministry skills and discerning the call of God.
Coordinate with other ministry departments determining various needs and opportunities for students to serve in other areas of the church.

Family Relations
Build meaningful, trusting relationships with parents.
Provide basic counseling and spiritual direction as needed and appropriate.
Provide on-going coaching and resourcing for parents empowering them to become the primary spiritual mentors in the life of their student.
Develop steams of communication and dialog with parents/guardians including e-newsletters, social media outlets and regular parent meetings.

Team Member
Meet monthly with Family Ministries Pastor for mentoring, coaching, vision, personal growth, ministry development and strategic planning.
Work in unity and cooperation with paid and volunteer staff of Grace Fellowship.
Develop and manage annual student ministry budget with full financial accountability.
Promoting student ministry as a vital, integral part of the comprehensive ministry and vision of the church.
