Director of Young Adults

Job Description:
Glenkirk Church is a modern, intergenerational church with innovative missions and ministries. Our mission is to lead uncommitted people to become fully devoted followers of Jesus. We are a theologically Reformed church with a strong emphasis on evangelism. Around 1100 people attend our four weekend worship services, one of which is traditional. The Vision
We would like to see a cohesive and growing ministry to people in the post-college to 40 age range, including social events, small groups, and mission service opportunities. We are not envisioning a separate worship service for this group. There is a population of young adults who are attending Glenkirk, but there is not yet a cohesive, identifiable place of belonging. We are open to this position taking on other facets of ministry at Glenkirk based on the interests and passions of the person God chooses for us.
The Person This position will require someone to be:
Theologically sound with a strong commitment to the authority of Scripture and the primacy of Christ
Actively engaged in broad social networks with the ability to build community across a wide spectrum of people
A strong communicator
Teachable and committed to teamwork with the staff and congregation
Committed to enthusiastically promoting the ministries of the local church
A minimum of 3 years experience in full-time ministry with experience leading groups of 100 or more
Ability to develop and coach teams of volunteers and to implement sustainable systems
High standards of excellence
A strong work ethic with a passion to excel in ministry
3 or more years of full-time professional ministry experience The Position
This position will include
Creating a growing weekly gathering place for young adults in the 21-40 age range
Creating networks of small groups for this demographic
Creating service projects and ministries in which people in this demographic can take part in kingdom work
Encouraging young adults to take part in the worship and ministry of the church
Creating ministries for couples considering marriage
Creating ministries for couples who are recently married
Creating parenting ministries for couples in this demographic
Participating in our weekend worship services, assisting in the leadership of worship as requested
Facilitating the Men’s Ministries of the church, largely serving as a liaison for existing, volunteer-led ministries (Bible
studies, sports ministry)
Participation in the life of the church
Developing useful social networks to connect our young adults with one another and to promote the ministries of the
church
Other responsibilities as requested
