Job Description:
The Vineyard Church is looking to fill a position in technical direction and video production. This is a full-time position, which includes weekday and weekend responsibilities.

The Vineyard Church is one church with three locations, including a Syracuse site, a site in Auburn (20 minutes away), and a University site. We are planning on launching a fourth location in nearby Cicero fall 2012. We are a modern church using the latest in technology and music to be relevant in reaching the Central New York Region. We are about 1200 with all of our sites.

The Vineyard Church has grown over 20% from last year and is uniquely poised to grow. We are at the point where our technical departments need to grow in every area and are looking to upgrade our equipment significantly. The technical director we hire will have a huge say in what those upgrades should be.


The Technical Director/Video Director is a full time position leading four volunteer departments including audio, lighting, video production, and multimedia in a Mac environment. This position holds hours during all service rehearsals and all services with remaining office hours planning for services, editing video, purchasing installing and repairing equipment, and building,
scheduling and coordinating volunteer teams. The Technical Director/Video Director will be invigorated by working in a fast pace environment.

Successful candidates will possess skills and experience in the following areas:

-The ideal candidate will have multiple years of experience as an A1 audio engineer running front of house sound. We hope that our candidate would have experience mixing in large venues, churches or auditoriums of 1000 or more with a mix philosophy reflective of modern secular music.
-A working knowledge of digital audio consoles is a must. Experience in recording software programs, like Pro Tools, Abelton, Logic and DP, is definitely preferred.
-The ideal candidate will be able to perform audio installations and equipment repair.

-This person will lead the lighting team. Experience with lighting design and digital lighting consoles is preferred.
- Experience with Jands is a plus.

-This person will lead Video Production, providing a video feed for in-house viewing, internet viewing and television programming. This person will also have a passion for communication and creative visual artistry, as they oversee and direct the production of video packages. They will have the ability to defer to project leaders and team members (regarding video content and style).
-The environment demands 100% Fluency on Macintosh computers. For editing, we use: Final Cut Pro (Studio: Motion, Compressor, etc.), ProPresenter, Cloud-based Technology. A proficient level of fluency with that software is expected. Some level of fluency with After Effects, and Photoshop are considered a plus.
-The Technical Director would be involved in equipment purchasing decisions and video
schematic design.

-The multimedia department is also under the supervision of the Technical Director. The multimedia department controls all video seen in the auditorium by the congregation.
-Experience in doing Technical Support for a live venue (live communication and video production),
-Fluency with ProPresenter and ProVideoPlayer software.

-Most departments run by this person are completely volunteer-operated. There may be staff members assigned to assist with particular departments.
-Experience in team-building is imperative and the ideal candidate will be someone naturally gifted in organization.
-Preference will be given to the candidate with a leadership track record of recruiting and retaining volunteer teams, developing volunteer leadership skills, and developing a sense of community within serving groups (Audio, Camera, Computer,and Lighting operators).
-A strong work ethic, must be a self-paced self-starter with regard to task management and workflow,
-Ability to work flexible/evening hours during the week,
-Ability to work weekends to support volunteer teams, equipment
