Job Description:
We are a stable, loving, Christ-centered church family with a desire to see our congregation go to a new level of growth and vitality. One of our key strategies is to strengthen our ministry to the families of young children and youth. We are seeking a Family Pastor to help us accomplish this. Other full-time staff members include a Senior Pastor, Director of Children and Youth Ministries and Church Administrator.

Our church is a warm, friendly non-denominational, evangelical fellowship, committed to sound biblical preaching and living out biblical truth within a grace-filled framework.

Primary responsibilities of the Family Pastor:

*Serve as a pastor to parents of young families
*Initiate, develop and lead ministries focused on families with young children and youth
*Create outreach strategies to engage more young families in the life of the church

This will involve making the church more inviting and appealing to young families and initiating ministries that will attract, nurture and support them. The goal is to cultivate faith in Jesus Christ and a life of discipleship, including introducing families to Christ for the first time.

The Family Pastor will provide parents with opportunities for discipleship, spiritual development and community, as well as partner with the Director of Children and Youth Ministries to create integrated ministries for parents and their children and to help families thrive within a multigenerational church setting.

Ideally, this pastor will take on a broader scope of responsibility over time. He will be given opportunities to preach monthly in order to develop his preaching ministry and to be visible to visitors and the church family. He will also perform other pastoral functions to support the Senior Pastor and to develop his pastoral experience and capabilities.

This role involves shepherding, leadership, teaching/preaching and evangelistic gifting and/or fervor. Candidates should have at least five years of ministry experience demonstrating these gifts and abilities as well as a passion for ministering to families.

In addition, we are seeking someone with the following characteristics:

* Experience serving, formally or informally, as a pastor to families
* Warm and engaging
* Emotionally healthy and spiritually mature
* Demonstrates a commitment to living a life grounded in Scripture
* Intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ, guided by the Holy Spirit
* Combines truth and love in dealings with people
* Ideally has a young family himself

Because we care deeply about finding the right match between our congregation and our new pastor, we have engaged the services of a professional search consultant with expertise in helping churches and ministry organizations find the right leaders. She is also married to a worship pastor and has served on church staffs.
