The Christian Education Director will assist families in raising their children in the Christian faith by providing quality Sunday School, Children’s Church and Milestone ministries. The Director will recruit, train and encourage volunteers to fulfill this goal.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB
Status: 10 hrs per week
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Evaluates: Sunday school Teachers
Compensation: $7,800.00 per year. 2 Weeks vacation(can only include 2 Sundays during the Sunday School year)

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS PRIORITY VALUES
1. Oversees Weekly Sunday School
a. Selects Curriculum
b. Recruits and Trains Volunteer teachers
c. Tracks Attendance and works to increase participation
d. Equips teachers with craft ideas and supplies
2. Leads/Oversees Children’s Church
a. Provides program for kids during Sermon time at both 8:30 and 11:00 worship services. (20-30 min)
b. Recruits and trains volunteers to assist or lead. The director should only lead one of the two services so that they are worshipping at once service each week
3. Oversees Milestone Ministry
a. Plans and implements First Communion Instruction (2nd Grade)
b. Plans and implements Introduction to the Bible workshop(4th grade)
c. Oversees Splash for birth-three year olds.
d. Grows CIC’s milestone ministry
4. Communication and Administration
a. Keeps the activities of the Children’s department in front of the congregation through emails, Facebook, website, bulletin and newsletter.
b. Meets weekly with Senior Pastor for leadership development

1. Knowledge of and commitment to teaching the Lutheran understanding of the Christian faith.
2. Experience in teaching children
3. Experience in administration & volunteer recruitment
