The youth director is responsible for ministry to 6th-12th grade students. Following Jesus’ command in Matthew 28 the youth director seeks to make disciples through weekly gatherings, monthly service opportunities and yearly trips and retreats. Recognizing that youth ministry is a ministry of the whole congregations the youth director raises up a team of committed adults to accomplish the ministry. The youth director is responsible for following and implementing CIC’s Child Protection Policy. The youth director leads an exemplary Christian life and sets an example to the congregation in following Jesus (ex. Worship attendance, Moral Behavior, Life of Faith)
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB
Status: Part Time 15 hours a week
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Evaluates: Youth Volunteers
Compensation: $11,700.00, Flex time for weeks exceeding the 15 hours such as retreats and mission trips. 2 Week Vacation.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS PRIORITY VALUES
1. Weekly High School Youth Group(6 hrs a week)
a. Plans weekly lesson and activity (3 hrs)
b. Trains High School leaders to lead the lesson (1hr)
c. Works with adult volunteers to provide meals
d. Runs Youth group (2hrs)
2. Yearly Mission Trip(1-2 hrs a week average)
a. Chooses Yearly mission trip on rotating basis(Domestic, National ELCA Youth Gathering, Foreign)
b. Works with youth team to raise funds for the trips
c. Chooses Adult leaders at at least a 6:1 ratio to help lead the trip.
d. Engages the congregation to be a part of the trip through prayer, donations and receiving the stories of the youth upon return.
3. Service Projects and Fellowship Activities(1hr a week)
a. Organizes at least 6 service projects a year for both High School and Middle School youth.
b. Provides opportunities for youth fellowship and group building through activities like annual ski retreat, lock-ins, day trips to amusement parks, hiking, baseball games etc.
4. Middle School Youth (3-4 hrs a week?)
a. Creates a middle school youth group experience on a regular basis. This is something new for CIC.
5. Leadership Development(2hrs)
a. Meets regularly with Senior Pastor for spiritual and professional development
b. Develops youth leadership and mentors them in the faith
6. Communication & Administration
a. Communicates youth activities through church publications such as the bulletin, newsletter, Facebook page, website and constant contact e-mail
b. Does other administrative duties as necessary.
