Job Overview:

Bethel Christian Fellowship is an evangelical, charismatic, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the city of Rochester in Upstate New York. We are a growing church with a weekly attendance of approximately 800+ adults and children, with a vision for serving our city. We are a loving, ethnically diverse church (about 40% Afro American, 10% Hispanic, 5% Asian 45% Anglo). We believe that our developing small group ministry and Christian education is central to the community life, ongoing discipleship, and evangelistic lifestyle of our members.

We are seeking a mature Christian with a servant’s heart, a team approach to ministry and a contagious love for Christ and passion for the presence of God. In consultation with the Worship Arts Director and Senior Pastor, the ideal candidate will design and develop audio visual responses for worship the worship arts ministry and provide audio visual services for church wide ministry. Mentor audio visual team leaders and team members. They will also participate in the community and mission of the church, with an increasing role in leadership as relationships deepen.

Qualifications needed include the ability to provide technical responses to a dynamic worship arts ministry, be up to date with state of the art technical equipment and services. The candidate will also have the ability to train and teach and implement audio visual teams to service all aspects of church life, for example, Sunday services, Christian education, youth, children’s services, funerals, weddings, conferences etc,. The ability to communicate well, motivate volunteers, and effectively provide or implement spiritual and pastoral care to members of the audio visual teams is essential.

1. Audio Technician / Production Coordinator

1.1. We are looking for a gifted Audio Technician / Production with previous experience in the areas outlined below.

1.2. Summary:
The Audio Video Technician / Production Coordinator (AVT/PC) is a leader of the Technical Ministry team at Bethel Christian Fellowship (BCF). This position serves our diverse ministries and requires a self-motivated individual capable of developing ‘the ministry’s vision’ without constant oversight. As the leader for the audio/visual aspects of BCF, the AVT/PC is one of the liaisons between the Technical and Worship Arts staff, church administration calendar coordinator, volunteers and event/program planners.

1.3. It is the AVT/PCs responsibility to help ensure that all of the venues produce the highest possible quality audio visual responses. Above all, the overall mission of the AVT/PC is to help create an atmosphere that is conducive to worship and quality communication based on the purpose of the event and the audience demographic.

1.4. Overview of Job Responsibilities
Serve in audio and production leadership role that include, but not limited to:

1.4.1. Building and leading a team of audio/production volunteers.
1.4.2. Providing specific training on professional equipment on an ongoing basis.
1.4.3. Training other BCF ministry areas to operate technical systems.
1.4.4. Monitoring volunteer workload and protecting them from burnout.

1.5. Help plan, organize, lead, and implement the use of media technology in worship. This is not only in support of a worship experience, but is to be an integral component of the worship experience. This includes but not limited to:

1.5.1. Create an environment that actively enhances the worship experience.
1.5.2. Oversee the implementation of audio/visual aspects for services and events to ensure high quality and limit distractions
1.5.3. Maintain and service equipment

1.6. Schedule: This position will require some evening and weekend work to support various events and functions – heavy at times and lighter at other times. Current schedule includes supporting all worship services, evening rehearsals, staff meetings, and other rehearsals as needed. The AVT/PC will also be responsible for working out schedules with the Creative Arts Leadership Team to make sure that all venues are supported with qualified volunteer team members.

1.7. Venue Descriptions: Two adult worship services and several teaching venues for children and adults each weekend. These services are delivered in two separate sanctuaries and several different rooms with multiple demographics.



2.2. Primary Purpose: Lead and develop volunteer teams in mixing, editing and recording various types media (training, interviews, worship, DVDs, etc.), using professional and creative audio skills. Lead and develop volunteer teams in executing live audio for weekend services and special events. Assist with the purchase, upgrade and maintenance of audio equipment ministry-wide. Shepherd and provide small group leadership for audio, video, and other technical teams.

2.3. The ideal candidate will be able to cast vision in out-of the-box, creative ways to integrate and implement audio and media church-wide, improving and enhancing worship and ministry effectiveness. This person will also be an original thinker who feels called to an audio career/ministry, has exceptional character and works well with a variety of people (chemistry). The ideal candidate must also possess the following required competencies.

3. Required Competencies/Experience:
3.1. Bachelors degree in audio technology or related field or a minimum of 3 years of experience in technical ministries with emphasis on audio mixing and producing in large (1500) and (multiple) venues
3.2. 3-5 years of experience mixing large analogue and/or digital audio consoles and Pro Tools, mixing 5-6 piece rhythm sections, choirs and orchestras
3.3. 2-3 years of experience planning and producing events of various sizes
3.4. 1-3 years of management, leadership and recruiting of volunteers
3.5. Knowledge and experience with recent/up-to-date audio equipment and technologies
3.6. Proven leadership, interpersonal and administrative skills/experience
3.7. Must be able to work in a rapidly changing environment with multiple priorities
Preferred Competencies/Experience:
3.8. Knowledge of post-production audio
3.9. Broad operational understanding/knowledge of full scope of technical ministries.
3.10. Experience and basic understanding of automated and conventional lighting.
3.11. Proficient on Widows and Mac platform.
3.12. Understanding of video projection systems.
3.13. Creative with stage design, set up and construction.

6. Responsibilities:
6.1 Audio
• Train audio technicians (how to operate mixer, set up mics, eq. how to correctly have a sound check, etc)
• Create a monthly service schedule.
• Create audio department policy and procedures (Who can use equipment, borrowed, etc)
• Safely secure all mobile equipment.
• Conduct a sound check prior to each service at least 10 minutes before service begins.
6.2 Video
• Train video technicians (how to operate a camera, lighting, focus, video production)
• Create monthly schedule.
• Create video department policy and procedures.
• Create policy and procedures for video technicians (training, when to arrive at church, etc)
• Normalize equipment for every service.
• Safely secure all mobile equipment.
• Evaluated department needs and/or replenish video needs.

6.3 Media
• Assemble media needed for each service (video, soundtracks, power point, announcements, etc)
• Create a media archive library of video and audio sermons.
• Oversee CD and/or DVD distribution of sermons for people to purchase.
• Upload sermon audio and/or video podcasts to church website for downloads.

6.4 Lights
• Responsible for stage lighting and allow enough time to adjust lights for proper coverage for each event
• Establish several lighting sequences to bring variety and interest to the stage with color lights and effects.

6.5 Stage
• Keep stage neat and clean at all times.
• Organize (before and after services) all mic and monitor cables. Place monitors back into position. Organize mic stands.
