Job Description:
Grant Memorial Baptist Church, (“GMBC”), a member of the Baptist General Conference of Canada, is a vibrant, evangelical congregation, averaging 1,500 in two Sunday morning services. GMBC is known for its emphasis on teaching the Scriptures, its choice of traditional and contemporary worship, its small group ministry, and its focus on outreach.

PROFILE
The Director of Connection & Community will have the implementation oversight over the core activities, tasks and resources which equip and assist the church to connect people into the life of the church—from their first time visit to connection with a small group and active involvement in the mission of the church. This oversight will include the areas of Guest Reception, Assimilation, Small Groups, Adult Communities and Learning Communities.

The Director of Connection & Community will be a proven team player with leadership skills to work with established staff in the areas of 1) Learning Communities (Coordinator of Spiritual Formation) and 2) Guest Reception and Assimilation (Coordinator of Follow-Up), and with lay leadership teams in the areas of Small Groups and Adult Communities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Small Groups: Direct the vision, resources, process and people for small groups.
Guest Reception: Oversee this “front end” part of ministry by planning and implementing all programs and initiatives related to welcoming guests into the church. This cluster of activities primarily occurs on Sunday morning in support of the worship/education functions.
Assimilation: Oversee and implement all programs and initiatives related to assimilating people into the church body.
Adult Communities: Oversee the adult communities of the church, ensuring that they are focused on the mission of making disciples.
Learning Communities: Oversee the learning communities of the church, with the objective of growing believers into effective Christian witnesses and servants.

QUALIFICATIONS
•Strong desire to serve God and inspire His people through excellence
•Persuasive leadership skills and excellent team-building skills
•Excellence in developing and refining ministry systems
•Experienced in small group leadership
•Proficient in teaching, counseling, and discipleship
•Superior time management skills
•Strong work ethic, self-starter, demonstrating initiative and ownership of results
•Committed to teamwork with the leadership, staff and congregation

REQUIREMENTS
•Committed, growing, mature believer
•Qualified for church membership
...Baptized by immersion as a believer
...In harmony with Grant Memorial’s doctrinal statement and philosophy of ministry (See Schedule B).
...Supportive of the direction of the church
•Bachelor’s degree and minimum of five years experience in a large, multi-staff church.
•Master’s Degree preferred.
