Job Description:
The Assistant Pastor is to assist the Lead Pastor by doing whatever is needed to help shepherd the people of Oakbrook Church.

Expectations: Oakbrook Church expects its Assistant Pastor to:
1. Engage in personal prayer and Bible study that leads to his own spiritual growth and those he shepherds.
2. Focus on youth and young adults and their families and on the volunteer ministry staff.
3. Be an effective and inspirational communicator. He is to be a student of God’s Word who reads, teaches and preaches from the Biblical text(s) in whatever arena he teaches.
4. Enthusiastically embrace Oakbrook’s mission, vision, values and doctrinal statement.
5. Have an outward, community mindset that looks for ways to bring God’s kingdom to the teens and young adults of our church family, community and world.
6. Be a good manager of people who enjoys mentoring, discipling and coaching people. 7. Be an ordained pastor in good standing with the Evangelical Free Church of America or agree to work towards ordination in the EFCA.

The Assistant Pastor of Oakbrook is responsible for the following:
1. Enthusiastically assisting the Lead Pastor in whatever way is needed.
2. Directing Student Ministries with the primary responsibility of recruiting, training, launching,
overseeing and coaching a volunteer staff that teaches, trains and coaches youth and
young adults in their walk with Christ. This responsibility includes:
a. planning a minimum of 2 monthly teaching sessions with teens, b. visiting youth on their school campuses, in their homes, at sporting events and in the hospital. c. going after (contacting, attempting to building relationships with) teens who are connected to OFC in some way but do not attend regularly d. planning / leading occasional retreats, conferences and camping experiences for various age groups.
3. Being an encouragement and resource for parents to assist them in whatever ways he is able. This responsibility includes occasionally meeting with parents and recruiting in informal parent advisory / support team that would meet at least twice a year.
4. Reach out to and make friends with young adults helping to instigate the formation of a young adult fellowship.
5. Being a part of Oakbrook’s “teaching team” with significant opportunities to teach / preach in the worship service (a minimum of 10 times a year).
