Job Description:
Type of Position: FULL-TIME


Responsible for oversight and direction of all programming and support operations that serve children and their families from infants through fifth grade

The Pastor of Children’s Ministries is primarily accountable to the Senior Pastor of the church with secondary accountability to the Staff Parish Relations Committee

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Education or equivalent ministry experience is preferred

• Mature, growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Must have a God-given passion for helping children discover and embrace God’s purposes for them and their families
• Must be a visionary leader with a proven ability to teach and lead children
• Able to communicate the Gospel message
• Effective skills in communicating with parents
• Effective skills in recruitment of volunteer support
• Effective organizational skills
• Proficient in use of personal computers in an office setting, including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office word processing
and e-mail


• Oversee and grow current programs through monitoring their effectiveness, scheduling staffing and volunteers,
selecting curriculum and directing children interactions
o Sunday School: classes divided by school grade during 9:30 a.m. service
o Nursery: 0-3 year old care during 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services
o Super Church: Sunday morning program for 3-11 year olds during the 11 a.m. service
o Vacation Bible School: Week long day program in August for 5-12 year olds – largest community children’s outreach with 200- 300 kids annually
o Summer Camps: Basketball/cheerleading and a soccer/volleyball camp offered for 1 week each in July and a Fine Arts
camp for 1 week in August – camps focus on specific skills and have dedicated biblical and spiritual teaching time
o AWANA: For K-5th grades on Wednesday evenings
o Community Outreach Events: Monthly outreach and other seasonal events

• Oversee administration of Children’s Ministry budget

• Oversee future ministry development and administration associated with launching any new programs

• Oversee volunteer staffing and development including ongoing training, events and activities

• Oversee communication, planning and implementation for the events and classes associated with children’s ministry

• Ensure the children’s ministry strategy and planning process coordinates with the whole church’s ministry plan

• Plan and lead all Children’s Ministry team meetings, retreats and training events
• Track volunteer leadership skill development and provide growth and equipping opportunities
• Hold regular meetings and feedback sessions with each ministry team leader to encourage spiritual and leadership growth
• Train and coach ministry team to develop their own volunteers and leaders

• Member of the board of the pre-school
• Visitation ministry
• Participate in Sunday worship service with opportunity to preach, if desired
• Attend Ministry Steering Committee meetings
• Attend Administrative Board meetings
