Director of Music and Arts

Job Description:
Galilee UMC, a vibrant and growing congregation located in Sterling, VA, is looking for a full-time Director of Worship and Arts.

The Director will provide leadership for the music ministry of the church through creative worship planning, leading music in the worship service, and recruiting, leading and guiding the gifts of the congregation as they serve God through music.

They will also provide leadership by encouraging congregant participation in the music ministry of the church by recruiting, teaching, training and rehearsing volunteer song leaders, instrumentalists, vocalists, choir members and creative artists.

Specific qualifications include:

Knowledge of music selections available for worship across all musical genres.
7+ years demonstrated experience in managing a music program in a church.
Enthusiastic. Organized. Excellent personal communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) are essential.
Bachelor’s degree in music; Master’s degree preferred
Strong spiritual leadership abilities.
Ability to play the piano required. Additional Instrumental skills are desired but not required.
Experience in planning worship and in participating and leading worship services.
Strong ability to recruit, teach, train, motivate and guide people in the church who have a heart for music.
