Job Description:
Pastor/Director of Children’s Ministry

Reports to: Associate Pastor

Grace Church: We are a CMA church in the SW suburbs of Cleveland, OH. Our average weekly attendance is about 3,300. Our current children’s pastor will be transitioning to a new position after leading children’s ministry for 12 years.

Desired Experience: Several years experience in a large church environment, with strong people skills, communication, team building, and organizational abilities.

Character: Demonstrates a great love for God and his people, high energy, very relational, genuine encourager for our team of staff, teachers, and helpers in children’s ministry. Is emotionally healthy, while exercising grace and humility with people; organizes his or her life around the practices of Jesus Christ.

Scope of Ministry:
Supervise the director of early childhood ministries (birth-K)
DiscipleZone Early Elementary Ministries (Grades 1-3)
SURFzone Upper Elementary Ministries (Grades 4&5).

Vision-casting & Promotion (lead and communicate vision)
Program Development (oversee curriculum and program development)

Recruit, train, place and coach staff and volunteers
Assist program leaders in recruiting and coaching their workers
Review all Volunteer Packets and interview all prospective workers
Encourage, Resource and Equip Workers
Write eConnect newsletter for workers
Channel helpful articles to workers
Conduct teacher development meetings or attend training together (OCEA Conference)

Meet regularly with leaders of all ministries (some weekly, some monthly; some formally, some informally)
Track budgets of each ministry area
Set policies and practices that ensure the safety of people in our care

Community Outreach/Connection
