Position Summary: Strong Christian leader guiding the spiritual development of growing youth program for teenagers to college age. Support the mission, goals, and objectives of Kingwood United Methodist Church (KUMC). Provide administrative leadership in the establishment and sustainment of a community based student ministries program.
Representative Qualifications and Duties
Faith and Ministry
? Demonstrate support of KUMC’s mission, vision, goals and statement of CONNECT, GROW and SERVE to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
? Practice Wesleyan theology in all examples of service to KUMC and its ministry programs.
? A strong walk with God through a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
? A desire to grow in personal faith and abilities.
? Positive role model of social holiness and personal piety.
Education and Work Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
? Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent experience; Bible college, Seminary or equivalent formal education a plus.
? Minimum three years student ministry experience in a growing youth program.
? Demonstrated knowledge of current youth cultures and trends.
? Self-starter who is highly motivated and passionate for planning and executing the future of KUMC’s student ministry.
? Strong verbal and written communication skills.
? Strong interpersonal skills with diverse constituent groups internal and external to the organization; able to interact effectively with students, KUMC staff and church leadership to achieve goal-oriented results.
? Establish sustainable educational methods and practices including a portfolio of youth ministry resources and tools.
? Experience managing the performance of a 3-5 person (or more) staff including summer college interns.
? Experience managing an annual budget of $50,000 or greater.
