Senior High Youth Director

Overview: WellSpring Community Church is seeking a Senior High Director to serve weekly the spiritual, relational and emotional needs of our church’s students grades 9-12 and serve daily as coordinator of our community teen center for 100+ students.

General Information:

This Position is full time. Salary package will include retirement and tuition/school loan reimbursement for a total compensation of approximately 40k. Also included is health insurance and vacation time.

The Youth Director role will be to serve the spiritual, relational and emotional needs of WellSpring’s teenagers’ grades 9 through 12. This role will require approximately 20 hours per week. We have a strong youth program with approximately 30 middle school students and 25 senior high students. We have a Junior High Director who oversees the middle school program. Our current youth pastor is stepping away from youth ministry after 22+ years (7 at WellSpring) in this vocation. There are no current issues or conflict with this transition.

The Teen Center Coordinator role will be to lead and operate the daily activities of EDGE Teen Center interfacing with the students, parents and volunteers. This role will require approximately 20 hours per week. EDGE is open from 2-6 Monday- Friday for kids to hang out, get some food, play games, surf the net, do homework, participate in life skill groups, or get tutoring. The Coordinator will lead the volunteers and interact with the teens to help make the center a safe, fun and inviting place.

Responsibilities of the Senior High Youth Director:
• Plan and execute a Sunday night “main event” program for Senior High teenagers
• Develop a vibrant small group program
• Plan and execute two youth retreats (one in the Fall and one in the Spring)
• Plan and execute a summer trip for the youth
• Maintain a visible student ministry presence within the WellSpring community
• Recruit and train adult and student volunteers
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of programs and adapt as needed
• Serve as a resource to parents on teen issues
• Keep teens and parents regularly well informed on upcoming events
• Participate in all church-wide strategic initiatives

Responsibilities of the EDGE Teen Center Coordinator:
• Lead and operate the daily after school program interfacing with students, parents and volunteers
• Recruit and train volunteers and paid staff
• Assist in planning weekend activities with the student advisory counsel
• Oversee the menu and the profitability of the cafe
• Interface with community leaders, parents and teachers as an advocate of the center.
• Secure event sponsorships (i.e. food and prizes)
• Manage the daily cash register and other fees
• Support fund raising initiatives
• Keep accurate records of attendees, attendance, volunteer hours, funds, pictures and stories
• Manage the Teen Center website and Facebook page

Experience and Education Requirements
• 3+ years of experience in Youth Ministry (Senior High preferable)
• College degree
• Strong personal organization skills
• A team player who enjoys collaborative ministry
• Ability to recruit, train and motivate volunteers
• Passion for building relationships with teens
• Experience in creative programming and event planning
• Familiarity with the emerging church philosophy

More about EDGE Teen Center
EDGE is an after school center for the students of Lakota East freshman and high school campuses which are both within walking distance of the center. These campuses house 2000+ students. Over 100 students attend each day after school. EDGE offers weekend evening activities as well. A community service program also involves another 400 students each semester and busses them to 5 service center sites where they serve the under resourced. EDGE was launched by WellSpring and we continue to be the largest supporter along with three other churches. Additional support comes through corporate sponsorships and foundation grants.
