Compensation: Salaried Position - $40,000.00-$45,000.00 with Benefits

Position Summary: The CWD/YMD is responsible for Contemporary Worship (CW) direction and Youth Ministry direction in coordination with the contemporary worship elder(s), the youth ministry elder(s) and the pastors of Providence Presbyterian Church

Overall Responsibilities:

• Serving in Providence Presbyterian Churches overall outreach and assimilation of disciples
• Ministering effectively and coordinating two ministry roles in a way consistent with Providence’s governing structure and leadership
• Weekly Planning Meetings with Associate Pastor for Family Ministries
• Attend staff meetings
• Communicate and Serve on several church committees including Contemporary Worship and Family Ministries.
• Communicate and work effectively with the Providence Leadership Team, including Session, Sr. Pastor, Associate Pastor, Music Director and Church Staff.


Contemporary Worship Director Role

Qualifications:

• Experience in planning and leading a dynamic worship service
• Able to sing lead vocals
• Select musicians to support contemporary service
• Leads band and singers in practice sessions for service
• Reads Music
• Proficiency with sound/multimedia/lighting equipment
• Train and communicate with AV volunteers
• Plays and leads multiple genres/styles of music

Primary Duties:

• Works with the pastors and the CW committee to lead the coordination and documentation of weekly Contemporary Service(s)
• Coordination of weekly band practice and documentation
• Coordination of music for service with assigned staff
• Weekly worship leading
• Provide outreach and assimilation of musical persons into the Providence Faith Community

Youth Ministry Director:

Qualifications:

• Builds rapport easily with youth, college age young adults and families
• Understands issues dealing with youth and their family and understands sensitivities and boundaries
• Recruits and Trains volunteers to work with youth
• Knowledgeable about youth programs and how to plan and implement them

Primary Duties:

• Works with the Associate Pastor of Family Ministries and the Youth Committee to lead the spiritual and ministry development of Providence’s Youth Ministry
• Provides Biblically faithful and engaging teaching and ministry to Providence youth
• In coordination with ministry staff and the youth committee, generates and implements new ideas and programs to grow the youth program at our church and to reach the youth in our community
• Participation in Meetings with staff/elders/pastors.
• Oversee the recruitment and training of volunteers to work with Middle School and High School Youth
• Help support, oversee, maintain, and grow Wednesday and Sunday Youth Programs
• Work with local youth leaders when needed to support community and faith growth of youth
• Assist in confirmation instruction as needed
• Provide outreach and assimilation of students and parents into the Providence Faith Community.
• Lead, oversee, develop, and provide direction for both Jr. High and Sr. High church praise bands.

Evaluation:

An annual evaluation of the Contemporary Worship Director/Youth Ministry Director will be provided by the Associate Pastor or Family Ministries and the Senior Pastor under the direction of Session’s Personnel Committee, which also will review the adequacy of the CWD/YMD’s compensation annually and recommend any cost-of-living and/or merit increases to Session.


About Providence Presbyterian Church:

Providence Presbyterian Church (PPC) is a 650-person congregation nestled on 27.5 acres directly across from 12 miles of white sand beach on the Atlantic Ocean on the South end of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Roughly thirty years after Hilton Head Island had begun to be developed as a resort, PPC was established in 1986 as a New Church Development of the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery (PCUSA). The church was cast on a nine-acre parcel of land in order to accommodate the island’s growing influx of new inhabitants.
Shortly after its inception PPC also purchased an additional adjacent property, 18.5 acres, from the Savannah Presbytery. On that land stood several buildings from an old Presbyterian camp and, in its early years, the newly founded congregation worshiped in one of those buildings known as the Chapel in the Woods. It soon outgrew the chapel and proceeded to build its current campus that consists of four buildings: the sanctuary, education building, fellowship hall, and the administration building. This history of growth and development is a strong source of pride for Providence members.
PPC is a vibrant, friendly, and faithful Christian congregation with members from throughout Beaufort County and affiliate members who reside throughout the United States. Its congregation spans multiple generations and while the age demographic favors senior citizens, the church has a strong population of middle-aged and young adults. In the past year, Providence has seen a new influx of children, middle school and high school youth and their parents as a result of its intentional efforts to expand its family ministries.
Hilton Head Island itself is only inhabited by 37,000 persons but is annually visited by 2.5 million visitors, many who come as families seeking to enjoy the island’s secluded getaways and 12 miles of white sand beach. Particularly during the summer months the islands weekly population numbers can exceed 250,000. This fact actively plays into PPC’s planning as close to many vacationers visit PPC worship services per week.
PPC holds three worship services each Sunday, (two traditional and one contemporary) and provides an array of educational opportunities on Sunday mornings throughout the week for all ages. PPC maintains a ten person staff comprised of a multi-generational personnel including two Minsters of Word and Sacrament. The majority of the PPC ministries stem from active volunteer efforts rooted in Pastoral, Session and Diaconate leadership. PPC is a Biblically evangelical congregation that seeks to share the Good News of Jesus in its local community. It is active in Christian mission both nationally and throughout the world.
