Job Description:
Position: Director of Contemporary Worship Arts (Full Time)
Reports To: Senior Pastor

Our Church:
Thomasville First United Methodist Church, a historic church in downtown Thomasville, GA, has been around for a long time. A unique blend of traditional and contemporary formats, its 1,200 (and growing) membership seeks opportunities to connect not only with its past traditions, but also with modern forms of worshipping Christ. Fully Methodist but also ecumenical in its approach to Christian living, TFUMC is a place where families of all types can come together and enjoy Christ-centered activities and services while developing deep friendships.

• Lives out high standards in areas of personal relationships, commitments, and responsible Christian living in the church and community who considers this position a ministerial calling, not just a job
• Knowledgeable of music theory and has the ability to communicate, teach and lead team members through its application
• Possesses excellent interpersonal, supervisory, computer, technical and organizational skills
• Demonstrates the ability to lead from an instrument while, directing the praise team and leading the congregation into authentic passionate worship
• Experience in serving/leading a comparable program

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Contemporary Worship Leader
• Develops, plans, leads and rehearses Praise and Worship Team for Contemporary Worship
• Leads monthly Worship Planning Meetings and provides sermon illustration material
• Creates weekly Planning Center Online template for Contemporary rehearsals and Worship for Praise and Worship Team, Techs, and staff
• Coordinates audio/video system needs and Techs with the Audio/Visual Technical Arts Director
• Attends required meetings
• Oversees the upkeep of technical equipment in the Fellowship Building Worship area
• Develops, plans, leads and rehearses Youth Praise and Worship Team for Youth Worship
• Overseas the scheduling of techs to operate the audio/visual system in the worship area for various church group events and programs
• Prepares and manages annual Contemporary budget
• Participates on a regular basis in visitation, assists with Communion, attends traditional services, availability on a rotational basis for emergency weekend calls, serves as needed in leadership positions during traditional worship and other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor
• There could possibly be other program responsibilities based on applicants gifts and graces

Thomasville Methodism dates back to 1838 when a group of Methodists began meeting regularly, led by a circuit riding minister from the Monticello District. The First Methodist Church was built in 1840 and was the only church in town for 9 years.
