Growing Point Leader Job Description

Valley Church Mission Statement: To make disciples who know God, are becoming like Christ, and are working to make Him known in Silicon Valley and beyond.

Growing Point Mission Statement: Individuals are developing transformational friendships and are maturing in their relationship with the Lord.

Major Job responsibilities:

•Serve as a member of the Leadership team of Valley Church. This team is charged with the overall leadership (vision, provision, reproduction, administration, protection, and purification) of the church in cooperation with and in accountability to the board of elders.
•As part of the Leadership Team, give leadership to implementing church wide vision, administration of calendar, budget preparation, staff hiring, evaluation, and oversight of ministries.
•To assist with Sunday preaching from time to time.

•Lead Valley Church in the accomplishment of the Growing Point Mission Statement.
•Develop, execute, and track ministry progress against Growing Point goals and objectives.
•Develop, implement, and maintain a clear spiritual formation process for Valley Church in collaboration with other point pastors and leaders
•As “Point Pastor” give general oversight to the Growing Point. Support, oversee, and represent all the ministries, staff members, and volunteers in that ministry point - Men’s and Women’s ministries, Children’s, Youth, College, 20’s and 30’s (TNT), Valley Golden Agers (VGA), Discipleship Electives.
•Implement and oversee the church-wide community group ministry, working closely with the other point pastors, in order to create and maintain community groups that are committed to Knowing, Growing and Showing.
•Represent the concerns of the Growing ministries at Pastoral Staff meetings, Elders Meetings, and all-church meetings.
•Develop, implement, and regulate the budget for all Growing Point ministries in cooperation with the business office.

•The ability to work efficiently and effectively in team situations is critical, as well as the ability to work independently.
•Must possess solid time management skills and organizational abilities. The ability to coordinate several activities at once and to quickly analyze and resolve specific problems is important.
•The ability to communicate and establish effective working relationships with all levels of people, conveying a genuine concern for their needs and a desire to provide exceptional service, is essential for this position.
•The ideal candidate should be creative, detail oriented, flexible, and decisive with the ability to organize and coordinate work, set priorities, and motivate others.

•Seminary or Bible/Theology degree from four-year college or university.
•Experience in giving effective oversight to multiple teams and ministries in a large church (400+) setting.
•Proven history of team building, equipping, and support for ministry teams.
