Title: Director of Children’s Ministry

Reports to: Senior Pastor
Working with senior pastor and staff to direct all Children’s Ministries.

Commission on Education

Children’s Sunday School (3 year olds – 5th Grade)

• Work closely with Commission on Education Chair to provide all aspects of Children’s Sunday School (3 year olds – 5th grade), which includes:

• Recruiting and training teachers
• Ordering and distribution of curriculum
• Preparing rotation schedules
• Scheduling pastors teaching

• Manages and directs the activities related to Children’s Ministry in the areas of:

• Confirmation Sunday School
• Special Needs Ministry
• Wee Worship
• Crazy Christians and Jumpin’ Jehoshaphats
• Vacation Bible School
• Special Sunday Events
• Kids in Mission
• Created by God – Sex education


• Staff Liaison to Nursery Committee and Chairperson
• Provide supervision of Nursery Director
• Hiring of new staff
• Preparing communication to parents/volunteers
• Organize continuing education events
• Curriculum for storytellers and volunteers.


• Weekly worship leadership
• Children’s worship folders – choose weekly content, recruit and schedule weekly volunteers
• Create educational materials to help the kids learn how to worship
• Acolytes – work with acolyte coordinator to train and organize the 5th graders in worship each week
• Pastoral care for children and Families - hospital and home visits for illness and emotional/social issues


Serves as Staff Liaison/Relationship between Stringfellow School and the church.

• Bachelors Degree - Education or related; Masters Degree preferred
• Certification of Christian Children Ministries

• Clear understanding of United Methodist theology and practice
• Gift and passion for Children's Ministries
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Ability to provide weekly children's sermon message at Sunday Worship
