Primary Purpose of Position:
The Worship Arts Director is responsible for creating and leading weekend
worship services; developing a passionate and reverent style of worship, which is
multi-sensory, highly participative, utilizing multiple styles, and multiple
historical traditions in worship; this person will lead the creative team and Big
Idea process; lead musicians, vocalists, artists and technicians; and lead the
congregation into shared life-changing encounters with God.

Time Commitment:
Meet 1-1 once a month with Lead Pastor.
Meet weekly with The Gateway staff team.
Meet weekly with the Big Idea Creative Team.
Monthly participation in Leadership Community.
Attend all-staff meetings, trainings and retreats.
Lead Worship regularly.
Weekly band practice and pre-service rehearsal.
Schedule all artists and technicians monthly
Regularly follow-up with artists and technicians to encourage and learn
from their experiences.

Commitment to The Gateway philosophy of ministry and mission.
Passion for Jesus and His mission to reach the lost.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills; ability to train and
develop adult leaders.
Ample experience leading a band, strong vocals, and musical training.
Audio / visual expertise.
Consistent movement towards spiritual maturity.
Create an environment of excellence and expectation, so that God is lifted
and honored in our lives, community and city.

Recruit and develop artists (creative planning, band members and
vocalists) and technicians (media, lighting and sound).
Work closely with Lead Pastor and Big Idea Creative Team to create highly
engaging Sunday morning worship experiences which include: set designs,
creative arts, cutting-edge media, lighting, sound and relevant music to
enhance each morning’s Big Idea.
Fill and maintain the Arts/Tech schedule.
Develop leaders in each area (sound, media, lights, band, etc.)
Execute the Big Idea each week.
Develop and Maintain Tech.

What a Win Looks Like:
Weekly gatherings create a holy space where people can encounter the
living Christ through art, music, prayer, teaching and the sacraments.
More artists and techs are joining the Worship Arts ministry and making it
continually better.
Every artist and technician comes to rehearsal having been properly
prepared and communicated to by their leader.
More and more artists and technicians are being baptized and joining
small groups.
Every leader has an apprentice.
The weekend services are executed with only minor mistakes.
All broken or damaged equipment has been repaired or replaced in a
timely manner.
The Arts/Tech schedule is full and includes new artists/techs apprenticing.
