Job Description:

The business manager (BM) will provide both operational and programmatic support to the ministries of WoodsEdge Church (WE). The BM will supervise the finance office and serve as a spokesman for WE as determined by the Executive Pastor (EP). The BM will report directly to the EP and will directly assist the EP on all strategic and tactical matters related to budget management, cost benefit analysis and forecasting needs. This is a full-time, exempt status position.

• Oversee the work of the church accountant in the receipt, deposit and disbursement of all church funds
• Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for WE including: organizational revenue/expenses and balance sheet reports, cash flow forecasting and development and monitoring of budgets
• Oversee the preparation of weekly, monthly and yearly financial reports to ministry departments, the Operations Team (OT) and the church
• Maintain proper cash flow control to meet obligations
• Work with the OT, the management team and the financial clerk (???) to prepare an annual budget for approval by the Elders
• Work with the Leadership Team and OT in planning and promoting the annual church budget, stewardship development (Generous Church) and capital campaigns
• Work with the EP and OT to obtain or restructure long or short-term debt financing
• Obtain an annual audit or review of WE financial statements
• Oversee the administering of payroll for WE employees
• Assure all tax reports (941, W-2) are promptly paid and filed timely
• Oversee 501c3 compliance for WE and all of its 501c3’s under the umbrella of WE
• Insure that WE operates as a Not-For-Profit in accordance with U.S Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

• Administer the personnel policies and procedures of WE as approved by the Elders
• Assure that WE operates within all state and federal laws
• In conjunction with the EP, administer the performance evaluations of staff
• Hire and terminate support staff in consultation with the Leadership Team
• Periodically review wage and salary structures, personnel practices and benefits and make recommendations to the EP and OT
• Work with the EP/OT in assisting pastors with relocation and determining the proper relocation benefits

• Direct the maintenance department director and all outside contracts; to include IT support, office equipment contracts, etc.
• Develop and administer policies and procedures concerning the use of all church properties and facilities (including satellite campuses)
• Assist WE in working with architects, city authorities, contractors, planning, building, remodeling and equipping of church buildings
• Work with staff and organizations in coordinating the assignments of classrooms and church facilities for meetings, activities and ministries of WE
• Evaluate periodically the insurance and benefit needs of WE
• Oversee the energy management system, if and when acquired
• Oversee the security of the church
• Maintain an inventory of church property and equipment

• Give general direction to the weekday operation of the church office, and supervise the secretarial, clerical and office personnel as assigned
• Assure that all office equipment and IT systems are maintained for optimal productivity
• Evaluate and recommend needed equipment for efficiency and cost reduction
• Assure that proper computer backup is maintained on servers and that an off-site backup is secure
• Facilitate all new staff training on processes and equipment
• Facilitate staff training on church computers and equipment
• Administer budget for church offices, grounds, utilities and contract services

• Obtain advice on legal, business and tax matters for the church
• Take and prepare minutes for OT
• Participate in weekly staff meetings/retreats and other scheduled elder meetings
• Facilitate the organization of volunteer support

• Must be pursuing a growing relationship with Jesus Christ that reflects a daily unhurried time with the Lord
• He/she will demonstrate a lifestyle of holiness, love and compassion
• Actively involved at WE
• Fully engaged in the mission and vision of WE
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Be a strong team player – leading with concern for the overall ministry of WE
• Knowledge of computer systems, including word processing, electronic communication software, membership software and financial reporting and accounting software
• Proven work ethic and strong sense of excellence
