Job Description:
Summary: The primary role of the Director of Student Ministries is to provide leadership to the Student Ministries of SunHills Community Church. Ministry to middle school and high school students is a tremendously high value to us and a great opportunity in our context. We are seeking a servant-leader who has a contagious passion for God and the calling to see that passion for God spread among students. The Director of Student Ministries reports to the Lead Pastor.

Necessary Qualities
• Strong personal relationship with the Lord; character fitting for one in spiritual leadership
• The ability to help students grow in relationship with the Lord (discipleship)
• Highly relational – able to connect well with students, leaders and families
• Team player – relational connection with staff and church family
• Leadership abilities to influence through servant-leadership in direction, development and advancement of the ministry
• Leadership abilities in recruiting, developing and partnering with others – adult leaders and parents
• The heart of reaching out – by example and leadership moving students to share the message of Christ and show the love of Christ

Essential Job Functions
• Lead and oversee programs of Student Ministries, incorporating elements designed for both spiritual growth and outreach
• Develop age appropriate camp, retreat and mission opportunities for students
• Coordinate communication of Student Ministries with staff, parents and church family
• Recruit and develop adult volunteers to minister to students through small groups
• Facilitate interaction with parents that support and equip them in their role in the spiritual development of students
• Prepare budgets and strategic planning for Student Ministries
• Support, consideration and cooperation with other areas of ministry within SunHills

• College degree
• Experience in student ministries
• Proficient organizational and planning skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well in oral and written formats
• A proactive and collegial attitude with a strong team approach
