Job Description:
The 3rd – 6th Grade Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the upper elementary area of Discovery Land, the children’s ministry of Appleton Alliance Church. We are a growing church where reaching lost people for Christ motivates everything that we do. We have about 750 children attending our Sunday Discovery Land program and 600 attending our weekly Awana program. This is an opportunity to enjoy ministering in a church that strongly supports children’s ministries with a dynamic staff in a fun, creative facility. Responsibilities for the Sunday Discovery Land programs and mid-week Awana program:

• Continuously identify potential volunteers
• Invite volunteers into ministry
• Build strong volunteer teams
• Ensure areas are fully staffed each week
• Ensure that all volunteer safety and training requirements have been met

• Effectively communicate the Discovery Land vision to volunteers
• Provide necessary instructions and resources for volunteers to carry out their roles
• Provide formal training for volunteers
• Continuously coach volunteers to reach their full ministry potential

• Manage the 3rd – 6th grade area of the facility
• Ensure that all necessary supplies are purchased for each quarter
• Ensure weekly set up is completed and all necessary resources are available
• Coordinate special outreach events

• A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a life lived according to His Word
• A heart and passion for reaching upper elementary-aged kids for Christ and teaching them to walk with Him
• BA in children’s ministry preferred, but not required
• Substantial volunteer or paid children’s ministry experience
• A strong sense of how to engage elementary-aged kids and maintain a ministry with a pre-teen edge
• Desire to implement and communicate an established children’s ministry vision and curriculum
• A high-energy, extroverted personality that enjoys working in a team environment

• Ability to build positive relationships with kids, parents, and volunteers
• Ability to lead experienced, well-trained volunteers
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to build teams and reproduce leaders
• Solid computer skills (Pages/Publisher, Excel, Word)
• Ability to manage multiple projects and events
• Ability to comfortably speak in front of groups of children, parents, and volunteers
• Discernment to handle quick decisions with excellence
• Discernment in working with volunteers’ personal and spiritual concerns
