It is the ultimate responsibility of every Christian parent to ensure that their children receive the spiritual training necessary to develop into Bible-believing, God-honoring Christians. Parents, however, sometimes desire assistance in the training of their children. This is the rational in pursuing a full-time Youth Pastor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Consult -To develop each age-specific ministry according to its needs; to communicate a vision for ministry that is relational and purposeful with each group; to help each ministry create strategies and programs that accomplish their objectives; and to inform the church on these ministries, allowing youth to impact adults and adults to influence the youth.
2. Coordinate -To ensure continuity between the various ministries so that the transitions between the various groups are as smooth as possible; to provide a unified sense of purpose and direction in terms of focus and curriculum (without necessarily studying the same material); to organize combined events that bring the different groups together; to share resources between the groups, and to develop and follow an annual youth calendar and budget. Will be responsible to work jointly with others directing various ministry programs for youth mission trips, youth nights, etc.
3. Care - To shepherd the leaders of the various ministries by giving them ownership, rewarding them verbally and visually, never allowing any unfair criticism to be directed toward them, and standing up for them as their advocate while allowing fair criticism. This will require being involved in their lives as a spiritual mentor and friend and providing counseling and spiritual direction on an individual basis
4. Communicate - Communicate all aspects of vision, purpose, strategy, and values for the youth department to pastor, volunteer leaders, students, and church congregation. Maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities. Keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement. Promote children’s ministries within the church body, and developing relationships between the ministries and the families of the children they serve
5. Integrate - Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries. Develop events that are outreach oriented to both encourage the children of the church to reach out, and provide opportunities for unchurched kids to connect with Christ and the Church body.
6. Direct a variety of outreach and ministry programs based on the maturity level of the youth with the intent of developing good witnessing and discipling techniques.
7. Plan, schedule and execute activities balancing time with middle school, high school and young adults. These activities should be both service-oriented and fun. There is to be some degree of spiritual content at all activities.
