Job Overview

The Visual Media Specialists at Morning Star Church are responsible for the production of all motion graphics and video elements used in worship services and other ministry venues. This includes, but is not limited to, original videos, testimonies, bumpers, promos, announcement videos, etc. Live camera feeds, lighting and CG software for lyric display are also encompassed in the weekend service role. Utilizing the legal means available to us, the Media Associates are to ensure the Trustees that copyright issues will not surface through our use of video clips or video/photography in our worship services.

The Media Specialists work closely with the Pastor, Associate Pastors, Worship Arts Director, Associate Music Director and the Worship Design Team in order to orchestrate all visual elements of the service. As a member of the staff, the Media Specialist will also interface regularly and cooperatively with other staff members, volunteers and the congregation. He/she will report directly to the Worship Arts Director.


1. General Duties
a. Participate in staff planning meetings
b. Assist with the purchase and maintenance of all equipment related to visual media in the worship space
c. Assist with the preparation and maintenance Media budget
d. Obtain, organize and archive all MSC media team content. This includes but is not limited to:
i. Event footage
ii. Original project footage and edit files
iii. Photos (Baptism, Event, Mission, etc.)
iv. Artistic elements purchased or created for projects (logos, vector art, stock video/photography, music beds, voice- overs, etc.)
v. Presentation files (Easy Worship, Powerpoint, ProPresenter, etc.)
vi. A/V archival recordings of services and events
e. Utilize knowledge, technology, and artistic skills to enhance services and events which require visual media
i. Shoot, direct and edit original projects when appropriate (or oversee tasked volunteers)
ii. Continually seek out useful pre-packaged elements (movie/tv clips, videos for purchase, etc.)
iii. Serve regularly as Technical Director at services and events involving Visual Media.
f. Mobilize volunteer teams to assist with the tasks involved with visual media
g. Assist with schedules of all media-related volunteers
h.Take a leading role in the continual technological evolution of MSC
i. Other duties as assigned by Worship Arts Director or Pastoral staff

2. Skills and Talents
a. Must be Dependable
b. Must be a team player
c. Must be organized
d. Must function with a high level of excellence artistically & creatively
e. Must have some technical knowledge of:
i. Computers (knowledge and experience with Mac is a plus)
ii. Projectors
iii. Professional and/or Pro-sumer video cameras
iv. Video mixers and/or switchers
v. Cabling and signal flow related to visual media (and some level of audio knowledge as it relates to video)
f. Must have intimate knowledge of software related to visual media
i. Final Cut Pro®, Adobe Premiere Pro® or similar non-linear video editing software
ii. Adobe Photoshop®, Adobe Illustrator® or similar raster/vector graphics editing software
iii. Adobe After Effects®, Apple Motion® or similar motion graphics software
iv. ProPresenter®, Easy Worship®, Microsoft PowerPoint® or similar lyric display/presentation software
v. Knowledge of additional visual media software is a plus (Adobe Flash®, Cinema 4D®, etc.)
g. Strong Leadership Abilities a plus

3. Education / Experience
a. College graduate or equivalent work-related experience
b. Experience in operating, troubleshooting and managing various types of visual media equipment (cameras, computers, projectors, video mixers, lights, etc.)
c. Experience in a cutting edge church media ministry a plus
d. Any knowledge or experience in web-related media a plus
