Accountable to: Senior Pastor/Governing Board
Purpose: To serve the church by providing overall direction to the property, financial and business affairs of the church and providing leadership to and supervision of staff and volunteers.
Qualifications: This position assumes strong managerial skills and, while not requiring ordination, does require the biblical, theological, and spiritual sensitivity necessary to grasp and implement imaginatively the vision and initiatives of the church. The position is both managerial and relational, requiring fiscal, organizational, and leadership abilities, coupled with interpersonal skills and the skills needed to communicate well in writing and in speaking, whether one-on-one, in small groups, or in large meetings, must be a member of Calvary Baptist Church or be willing to become a member upon employment.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
a. Facilities Manager
i. Schedule all church events, making sure there is no overlap.
ii. Maintain an up-to-date master calendar of events.
iii. Coordinate and schedule outside use of facilities.
b. Long-range planning
i. Five-year/ten-year plan to buy/replace furniture and equipment
ii. Anticipate and plan for future facilities development, based on projected space needs and program plans.
c. Supervise maintenance and upkeep of all buildings, grounds and landscape.
d. Keep current inventory of all equipment.
e. Find adequate storage for church equipment.
f. Coordinate with appropriate committees, contractors and architects, as needed, to facilitate renovation or relocation of facilities.
g. Coordinate with the Courtesy Team and other committees to provide security for the facility and evacuation procedures in the event of inclement weather, fire, or other possible catastrophes.
a. Ensure that appropriate and accurate accounting is maintained including:
• Accounts payable and receivable;
• General ledger;
• Monthly income statement and balance sheet;
• Bank accounts;
• Investment and tax reporting;
• Individual contribution records;
b. With Finance Chairman from Trustee Board coordinate development and preparation of the church budget.
c. Coordinate and monitor purchasing of equipment, furniture, supplies and other items.
d. Research new business procedures, computer techniques, financial programs and salary surveys.
e. Research and evaluate all financial commitments and contracts.
f. Ensure that appropriate and adequate insurance coverages are in place.
g. Oversee the bequests and memorials given to the church.
h. In cooperation with the Trustee Board lead the capital fund raising campaigns as needed and keep members informed of needed debt reduction.
i. Work with Financial Secretaries regarding offering counting and depositing procedures.
a. Supervise support staff members in the following areas:
b. Collaborate closely with the Senior Pastor and the Governing Board to ascertain and implement adequate staffing for the church and its ministries, and to implement the church’s personnel policies and procedures.
c. Recruit, screen and recommend candidates for support positions.
d. Manage and support the office staff, ensuring order, competence, and professionalism in their work.
e. Keep all staff job descriptions updated and conduct annual staff evaluations, with ongoing reviews as needed throughout the year.
f. Devise a discernment process that will lead to a full 360 degree performance review of all staff.
g. Maintain accurate, up-to-date personnel files.
h. In collaboration with the ministerial staff, develop a detailed organizational chart and full job descriptions for ministerial staff.
i. Encourage, coordinate, and channel volunteerism in the congregation as part of fostering congregational participation generally in the life of the church.
a. Establish departmental goals and objectives by prioritizing related programs, managing the use of facilities, planning an appropriate budget, delegating tasks and evaluating progress regularly.
b. Work with appropriate committees, officers and leaders to carry out the church’s business affairs.
c. Attend staff meetings and retreats.
d. Attend Board meetings as a resource and for informational purposes.
e. Cooperate with the Senior Pastor and the Governing Board by performing any other duties when asked to do so.
f. Encouraged to tithe regularly.
