Teaching Pastor

Canyon Lake Community Church is seeking a Teaching Pastor to come alongside our current Pastoral staff to fulfill the following purpose.

Position Purpose
To provide leadership that ensures the Gospel message is communicated powerfully toward life change, that biblical truth is taught and that our church body is equipped to serve as disciples reaching our community for Christ.


This position requires someone who is an authentic and dynamic communicator of God’s Word. Primary teacher for our Threshold worship service targeting 20-30-year-olds in our community.

Pastoral Care
Providing care for and growing relationships within the body of Christ at Canyon Lake Community Church. Provide leadership for small groups and available for home and hospital visits, spiritual counseling, mentoring and discipleship.

This pastor must connect with our community by involvement in community events, growing relationships with those outside the church, and fulfilling leadership roles within the community.

Provide leadership as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, specifically in regard to staffing, fiscal stewardship and oversight, and the building of lay leaders.

Personal Qualities

Good Communicator
Must have a gift of communicating the truths of God’s Word in a way that results in a deep understanding of these truths and life change.

Team Oriented
Must work well as a member of a leadership team, demonstrating Canyon Lake Community Church’s leadership values by being a trusted, affirmed leader and a willingness to foster a synergistic relationship with the rest of the leadership team.

Must demonstrate the gift of administration in efficient use of time and resources, scheduling and organizing people, programs and ministries.

Must demonstrate a vibrant, Spirit-filled, growing relationship with Christ.


Must be a Reformed Church in America ordained pastor, RCA commissioned pastor, or willing to begin the process of attaining either accreditation.
