Are you good at herding cats? Does the “Hot Light” make you happy? Do skinny jeans bother you? Did you think MySpace was a bad idea? Did you post a picture of you planking on Facebook? Have you ever wished you could design your own job?
If so, then Crosspoint might want to talk to you. Crosspoint Community Church in Decatur, AL, has an average weekend attendance of 500+ and is looking for someone to help us design a brand new Student Ministry from the ground up. We want to engage teens and their families with the gospel and impact North Alabama for Jesus!
If that cranks your tractor, then here’s what we need someone to do (among other things that we get to decide later):
•Work with the staff and key leaders of Crosspoint to carry out the overall mission of the church.
•Evaluate the needs of students at Crosspoint and in the community and create a ministry to meet those needs. The ministry should guide students to Celebrate, Connect, and Contribute in the style of Crosspoint.
•Develop and implement individual focuses for Middle School (Grades 6-8) and High School (Grades 9–12).
•Recruit, train, resource, and oversee volunteers in the Student Ministry.
•Build a team of key leaders for the Student Ministry.
•Work with a creative team for Student Ministry programs and elements.
•Provide clear communication within the Student Ministry, and between the Student Ministry and other areas of Crosspoint.
•Provide biblical advice and guidance to students and parents on an individual basis as needed.
•During the week, invest in the lives of students and build relationships with them.
•Partner with parents of students through information, involvement, and resources.
•Maintain God-ordained priorities and disciplines in life.
•Perform other various responsibilities as a vital member and team player on the Crosspoint staff.
•Report to the Executive Pastor.
Before you send us that slick resume, you should know we will throw it in the trash unless you:
•Have a college degree. (Ministry degree not required.)
•Have actually held a job and have at least 3 years experience leading student ministries in a church of 250+.
•Can communicate the gospel and preach the Bible in a relevant manner.
•Have a proven track record of leading teams, and recruiting and training volunteers.
•Will pass a criminal background check.
We think it would be cool if you:
•Can lead worship and sing on key while playing an instrument.
•Know how to use simple programming/performance tools such as ProPresenter/Planning Center.
•Are sort of geeky and know something about sound/video technology gear.
•Could produce and edit a video that would become the next internet meme using something other than Movie Maker.
•Can make or edit a graphic without using Google or a clip art book.
