Job Description:
This full time position supports Chapel leadership and ministries by organizing and tracking our data efficiently and effectively and delivering top notch, error free reporting so decision makers can make the best fact based decisions possible and so people in our church are ministered to. Requirements include having a clear understanding of relational database concepts and constructs, being able to “consult” with ministry representatives to understand their data requirements, working with our managed service provider to optimize our database structure and reporting capabilities to meet our needs, and championing the accuracy and integrity of our data. Additional responsibilities include participating in developing processes that provide maximum system support for ministries, building and leading a team of volunteers, and training staff and volunteers to use software to achieve ministry goals.


1. Database Administration

• Provide support to staff, volunteers and web users
• Architect data structure for optimal reporting and database functionality
• Account creation, maintenance and security
• Troubleshooting functionality and reporting problems
• Creation of online registration forms
• Troubleshooting web functionality including login and processes, online event registration, online giving, Small Group Manager, and Small Group Finder
• Support online event registration and online giving
• Creation of contact forms and contact routings
• Creation and maintenance of peoples’ statuses

2. Database Tailoring and Optimization

• Develop thorough knowledge of system capabilities
• Partner with ministry and departmental leaders to define and report on serving and small group structures that most closely approximate our actual structures and realities, implement them, and train database users to use these structures
• Document and maintain Chapel-specific training materials
• Work with Fellowship One (our vendor) to support our church through system upgrade requests, customized reporting, and troubleshooting/error resolution

3. Data Accuracy and Integrity

• Ensure data is accurate and current
• Lead and train our “F1 Champ” team to ensure adoption of our practices and procedures
• Lead and train our “Data Integrity Team” to check for and correct inaccuracies and make changes
• Identify, document and train best practices that ensure that our data integrity is maintained

4. Key Metric Development and Delivery

• “Mine” and deliver key metric data to decision makers by populating our “Dashboard” and helping to produce campus and church-wide performance metric reports including our “Healthy Campus Profile”
• Consult with decision makers, bringing actionable information to bear

5. Volunteer Team Development and Leadership

• Create volunteer roles that support the entry and maintenance of our data, the training of volunteer and staff users, the execution of events, and special projects
• Recruit, train and empower a volunteer team made up of these roles

6. Special Projects

• Assist in launching new campuses.
• Various projects as identified by supervisor, including significant involvement in reporting and research
• Study new systems and applications as they are introduced

7. Ministry Acumen and Support

• Maintain frequent communication with ministries and keep current on ministry goals in order to provide system support
• Leverage F1 Champions to obtain an acute understanding of how data is currently used with their ministries
• Identify and analyze future needs of ministries based on ministry goals

• Identifies a set of features, parameters or considerations required to analyze the problem/situation
• Identifies relevant data and determines the appropriate use of the data

• Recommends a course of action to address or resolve the problem/situation

3. Data Manager: A data manager captures, tracks, warehouses and applies data.

• Recognizes the value of data, viewing it as a resource
• Develops clear, systematic data management practices and procedures
• Organizes data by creating a structure for the collected data that shows the relationship of a piece of data to other data
• Warehouses data effectively so it can be accessed readily and easily
• Oversees data administration and movement
• Draws warranted inferences from the data

4. Detail Orientation: An individual with detail orientation appreciates the importance of details and attends to details that affect quality, timeliness and goal achievement.

• Perceives the whole in terms of component parts
• Determines with accuracy the specific steps, resources and actions required to achieve the overarching goal
• Oversees the specifics of a project/plan/event to ensure its successful completion
• Provides input and ideas to help foresee any needs at a given event or meeting

• Shepherds the team by providing devotional leadership, counsel and meaningful spiritual encouragement
• Provides resources and training
• Sets clear expectations and holds team members accountable for them
• Coaches the team to know what a “win” looks like
• Provides clear, timely, specific and actionable feedback to promote growth among team members
• Expresses appreciation, values team contributions and gives sincere verbal affirmation as frequently as possible
• Positions the team for success by leveraging the talents of team members with a keen understanding of their strengths and limitations
• Models a commitment to consistently raise the overall level of excellence
