Spiritual Life / Program Director
Evansville Rescue Mission
Evansville, Indiana, United States

Categories: Outreach - Para-church Ministries
Church Size: Not Applicable
Job Type: Full-Time
In 1917, the Evansville Rescue Mission was born to be a major tool of outreach in the name of Jesus Christ in the Tri-State region of Southern Indiana, Western Kentucky, and Southern Illinois. For over 94 years, the ERM has served thousands of people who needed food, clothing, shelter, or just for someone to care about who they are and what they are facing. Soon, we will celebrate our 100,000th evening mealtime, and we thank God we've been able to be here all these years serving those who need us the most in our community.
Currently, we're looking for a Spiritual Life / Program Director who will serve as the primary Chaplain / Teacher / Mentor / and Administrator of our Men's Residence Center (MRC). Each year in the MRC, we provide over 42,000 bed spaces; 140,000 meals; and thousands of items of clothing to the men who seek refuge with us. As well, hundreds of men are provided valuable Bible-based Spiritual life instruction to help them move forward in their lives. The person we are seeking will be the primary individual who will oversee the entire process of intake, housing, teaching, chapel services, and exit-transitioning. It's a big job, but it sure has a lot of rewards!
The primary attributes that this person will have is that he is an example of Christlikeness for our guys. As well, he will have a strong passion for helping the homeless and the poor. Finally, he will be a strong administrator and an effective communicator of God's Word in a relevant, straightforward manner. He should have a college degree in an applicable field of study, and preferably be ordained by a recognized Christian denomination or church / ministry.
Our salary and benefit package will be competitive, and our expectation level will be quite high as we go through this process. We're not looking for someone who merely wants a job. Instead, we're looking for someone who believes God is leading them to work in a ministry such as ours. Honestly, working in a Rescue Mission is not for everyone. If you think it may be for you, we hope to hear from you very soon. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE!!!
It's our hope to have this positive filled early this fall...so let's roll! Send all correspondence to Tracy.Gorman@2Rescue.org. Deadline for receiving resume information is August 21, 2011. WE DO NOT CHECK MESSAGES ON CHURCHSTAFFING.COM VERY OFTEN. Please send to the address provided instead.
