Trinity United Presbyterian Church located in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a Director of Equipping. This is a full time, exempt position including benefits. Ministry Position: Director of Equipping
Accountability: Reports to Minister of Adult Discipleship and Equipping Elder

Ministry Responsibilities Summary:
Leads and guides several ministry teams to develop and facilitate an intentional process to build equipping values and structures so people are easily connected and effectively discipled at Trinity. This position promotes the scriptural values that we are all gifted, we are all called, and we are all ministers of God and facilitates the equipping of God's people to enter into a personal, passionate, gift-based ministry on our campus and/or in the community.

Primary Duties:
-Manages administrative functions involved in matching people’s gifts to ministry opportunities
-Utilizes current resources and tools (Church Volunteer Central online gifts assessment, Discovering Who You Are, by LIFEKEYS, etc.) to help Trinity’s congregation discover their gifts, strengths, and passions
-Utilizes Trinity’s database (Shelby, Servant Module) to match the congregation into suitable areas of ministry
-Works with staff and leaders to fill out Ministry Opportunity Templates to reflect the many diverse opportunities to serve
-Makes recommendations for new tools or resources, as needed
-Builds teams and disciples team leaders
-Partners with the Equipping Elder to build and develop teams of people to create and sustain systems that support and encourage every ministry to live out the value of equipping and Trinity’s stated core values/initiatives (discipleship, building community, leadership development, assimilation, equipping, and mobilization)
-Provides on-going support, coaching, vision, and direction to Compass Team Chairs through monthly meetings and one-on-one meetings as needed
-Partners with the LEAD Team, elders, deacons, and staff to educate and encourage all teams and ministries to invite people into ministry, offer trainings, affirm ministry partners, offer feedback for growth, evaluate the effectiveness of current systems/programs, recognize ministry successes, and reflect on where God is leading us to go next
-Conducts leadership trainings
-Conducts on-going leadership training for the congregation, staff, and church leaders with emphasis on the values and practices of equipping the saints for ministry
-Collaborates with the LEAD Team, session, deacons, and the Compass Leadership Development Team in planning of annual trainings and retreats
-Actively promotes the values of equipping
-Meets regularly with the Minister of Adult Discipleship and the Equipping Elder to evaluate the level of effectiveness and progress of Trinity’s teams/ministries in living out the values of an equipping church

Description of Schedule: 40+ hours per week; attend monthly Compass "Core Team" meetings (led by Equipping Elder); is an active and committed member of the Trinity family including attendance in weekly Sunday worship

Training Required: Attend regional and national training events as time and funds permit. Be familiar with texts and resources on equipping, be trained in Shelby database and Servant Module.


Accountability & Review:
Minister of Adult Discipleship in conjunction with the Equipping Elder will conduct an annual performance review.

• Proficient user of Word and Excel, has the ability to quickly learn the church database system (Shelby), can contribute ideas to how technology can be better used as an equipping tool

• Is a Leading Believer: Vibrant relationship with Christ, established in the basics, ready to disciple others
• Is an outgoing person who is flexible, creative, able to lead, self-motivated, is honest, and has a good sense of when to talk and when to listen
• Knows their spiritual gifts and can help encourage others towards a “gifts-based” mentality
• Lives a life that models Christian character, spiritual leadership and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ

Experience & Education:
• Three years’ experience in equipping ministry, spiritual development, or volunteer management preferred
• Willingness to learn Presbyterian polity as it pertains to church membership, leadership, and service
• Experience, passion, sense of call and relevant spiritual gifts will transcend education
