HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT AND FAMILY MINISTER
The High School ministry encompasses students who are in the 9th through the 12th grades. The ministry will partner with families to foster growth in the student’s faith and to promote relationships between the students and the church body.
The Student & Family Ministry will have a:
Spiritual Formation Focus. The ministry will use Scripture as a consistent source of truth to partner with families in providing developmentally appropriate spiritual growth curriculum and opportunities for students to grow, mature and face life’s challenges.
Family Focus. The ministry will support families in their efforts to train students to know and love God and His Son, engaging families with diverse backgrounds and responding to acute family needs with Godly counsel and support.
Body Focus. The ministry will promote social and spiritual relationships between students and among families throughout the entire church body by establishing personal connections, encouraging participation of volunteers and being transparent and inclusive.
Outward Focus. The ministry will reach out to students and families who need to know Jesus, modeling His concern for people who are in need or neglected. The ministry will conduct a series of service opportunities as part of a greater calendar of activities and events that align with its goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ROLES
Support parents as they lead their children into spiritual maturity. Assist with resources, programs and coaching.
Integrate the ministry into the full body life of the church. Model this personally.
Teach students and Empower other qualified teachers so that students will grow in knowledge of their Creator and His love for them.
Build relationships with students and their families. Seek ways to create these bonds within the student ministry, and also by participating in a variety of church and other activities.
Recruit and Mentor adult volunteers and coworkers to ensure a relational foundation. Empower a safe and Spirit led team.
Create a climate that fosters inclusion and mutual respect. Cultivate the “fruit of the Spirit” [Galatians 5:22-23]
Communicate clearly, frequently and through a variety of channels to youth, parents, members and Shepherds. Be a good listener.
Design and Promote a balanced calendar of events that enhances faith, family, and friendships. Be imaginative when planning service, outreach, social and intergenerational activities.
Develop a comprehensive plan for the ministry each year, including goals, budget, curriculum, service projects, events and activities. Present and gain approval for the plan.
Manage the ministry’s administrative functions. Operate within a specific budget and coordinate all forms, releases, schedules and expenses.
Interact and cooperate with church leaders and other churches, bringing fresh perspectives and resources to the ministry. Encourage students to see themselves as part of a larger community of believers.
Grow by participating in a variety of professional development opportunities
RELATIONSHIP & REPORTING
The High School Student and Family Minister reports to the Ministry Oversight Committee, and the Shepherds.
Other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated success among students and families in a Christian environment.
A bachelor’s degree in Youth and Family Ministry, Marriage and Family Ministry, Child Development and Education or a related field.
