The Opportunity
Mission Community Church is growing rapidly and we are expanding our pastoral staff to meet the increasing needs of our congregation. The Pastor of Community Life will provide leadership to our Adult Missional Community leaders and to our Adult Ministry Team leaders (men’s, women’s, singles, young singles, and 55+).

The primary responsibilities of this newly created position are to develop resources and create opportunities that encourage every adult at MISSION to grow deeper (with others) in their relationship Christ while embracing our Micah 6:8 vision to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with our God. We are looking for a proven leader who will personally seek after this vision, while leading thousands of others to do the same.

The Pastor of Community Life will report to our Executive Pastor and will become a member of our Senior Leadership team.

The Ideal Candidate
Spiritual maturity, a proven (transformational) leader of leaders, systems thinking and application, creativity, flexibility, a sense of humor, a strong work ethic, and keen insights into spiritual formation processes shaped by solid theological training, are all critically important for this person to experience success.

The successful candidate will have a deep and growing relationship with God, active involvement in the leadership of a church, and a commitment to maintaining healthy accountable relationships. A Christ honoring lifestyle marked by personal holiness, servanthood, gratitude, joy, love for bible study and prayer, spiritual and emotional maturity, and an ever increasing dependence on the Holy Spirit is a must. A growing passion to shepherd others in their walk with God and to work effectively with many key leaders is necessary. Integrity in finances, relationships, and time management is expected.

We have a few of commonly held convictions that unify our efforts and clarify our distinctives: We love Jesus. We are people of the book. We trust and support each other. We resolve conflict biblically. We are responsible for our own healthy boundaries. We think big. Then we think bigger. We have fun. We are problem solvers, not whiners. We are lifelong learners. We are always moving forward, but never fully arriving.

Broad knowledge of spiritual formation; demonstrated experience in successful leadership in spiritual formation in a medium to large church; proven experience in team building, vision-casting and training leaders for ministry; ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment; excellent working knowledge of the Bible; tactical thinker with proven ability to equip leaders and organize functional structures; transformational leader of leaders; effective communicator to adults of all ages; proven effectivenes in a multi-staff setting; able to connect multi-generationally; seminary or bible college degree from an accredited institution is required. A master’s degree is preferred; minimum five years of experience in adult discipleship.

Learn, understand, and embrace the vision, values and doctrine of MISSION church; be missional in attitude and focus; unrelenting passion for equipping Christians to grow in their devotion to Christ; holistic perspective on spiritual maturity; transformational over transactional leadership; loyal to the local church and to the surrounding community; team player and team builder who focuses on the good of the entire church; appreciation for nondenominational churches.

The Expectations
The Pastor of Community Life, in partnership with the Lead and Executive Pastors, will annually determine and regularly monitor appropriate Faith Projections (numbers and percentages) for each of the following desired outcomes:

Quantitative (easier to measure):
% of adults in groups (build upon our 60% rate of participation)
% of new members who consistently attend a group
% of visitors who attend our CORE class
# of adults who attend small group introductory class, and percentage of people who are still participating in groups one year later
% of groups who are emphasizing ‘walking humbly’ in their studies

Qualitative (harder to measure):
% of adults who have an increased enthusiasm for ‘walking humbly’.
% of adults who are growing in their understanding of ‘walking humbly’
% of adults who are growing in their lifestyle of ‘walking humbly’
% of adults who feel they have a spiritual growth path to follow
% of adults who are spiritually leading their family into Micah 6:8
% of adults who experience community through long-term, healthy relationships
% of adults who are consistently living their faith principles
% of adults who are growing in Bible knowledge
% of adults who are regularly sharing their faith with others
% of leaders who feel they have an appropriate span of care

Leadership that encourages growth in each of these areas, combined with a personal growth in Micah 6:8, are the primary indicators of the successful Community Life Pastor at MISSION.

The Church
Mission Community Church (MISSION) is a thriving community of believers trying to live out the Micah 6:8 vision: to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with our God.

In all things, MISSION holds God’s Word as an authority for teaching in peoples’ lives. Scripture is foundational to all our teaching. MISSION focuses on helping people understand that God has called them to follow him by living out the Micah 6:8 vision. In all that we do, we seek to provide a clear path for people to respond to the Holy Spirit’s leading. We are aggressive with outreach efforts – consistently serving hurting and under-resourced people, both globally and locally.

MISSION embraces missional community groups and multiple classroom environments to help people grow in their faith walk. A key statement that you will hear at MISSION is, “Never arriving, but always moving forward.”

Each of our five weekend services focus on worship, community, and theological learning. We aim for Christ to be exalted in all things, full engagement by those in attendance, teaching that applies Micah 6:8 to daily living, and healthy environments for children, students, and adults to grow in their relationship with Jesus and each other.

The Vision
The vision at Mission Community Church centers on Micah 6:8 - to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. Everything the church does folds up under one of the three prongs of Micah 6:8…

Do Justice – Doing what is right, and defending those being wronged. The people of MISSION are defenders of the defenseless and a voice for the voiceless both globally and locally. We rescue girls from sex trafficking, feed thousands of orphans, extend help and resources to widows, clothe the poor, and respond to as many needs as possible, both globally and locally.

Love Mercy – Help for the hurting. MISSION is committed to being a safe place for hurting people and a place of recovery, healing, and health. Jesus was all about practicing mercy and healing broken people, so we follow his lead. Mercy Ministries offers help and hope for people in all types of situations, from addictions, to grief, to depression and brokenness both personally and in the home, and many additional services.

Walk Humbly – In Micah 6:8, God calls us to walk humbly with Him. For our community, that means never arriving, always moving forward. Walking humbly with God means acknowledging that no one has ever “arrived” spiritually, and walking with God indicates that there is movement with Him. In your relationship with Him there is always a next step. A variety of next step classes and groups are available at MISSION to support learning and spiritual development.
