Valley Chapel FMC is located in Warsaw, NY. We are excited to be active in community service building bridges to existing agencies and individuals. Through the empowerment of our 200 (plus) believers, we have over 20 active ministries designed to accomplish the God given vision to be active in our county.
Due to growth of our ministries we are creating new position(s) on our staff team for long term interns who are looking to gain valuable ministry experience.
Below are some key characteristics that we are looking for:
Self-Directed / Leadership-oriented – This person should be able to be self-directed and inspired from the inside. It is important to us that the intern asks questions, takes risks, seeks leadership, and learns.
Communicator – This person must be capable of listening as well as expressing his / herself to others. In addition this person should be able to understand and articulate the vision, mission and culture of Valley Chapel
Passionate – This person must exhibit a deep commitment and desire to love and serve Jesus - being willing to sacrifice his/her own desires for this commitment.
Desirable Skills / Experience:
We are looking for candidates that have experience or skills in at least one of the following areas:
• Musical Gifts?
• Creative thinking
• Worked with Youth or Children?
• Community Service Volunteer work
Suggested Job Description (to be determined based on candidates strengths and interests):
Time in developing any number of various aspects of Valley Chapel: Children & Family ministry, College Ministry, Community Service, Arts & Music, Seeker / Community Outreach Ministries or Events and many other ministry opportunities.
Majority of time in direct Missional engagement with the non-believing community and / or organizing activities for such people (joining sports leagues, local clubs / associations, sitting in coffee shops, etc) Specific time in structured discipleship mentoring process – weekly one-on-ones, reading, trying out new ministry skills, processing ministry goals and milestones, etc.?
Education – High school diploma and above; a sense of call to serve in ministry
Experience – Volunteer experience with a church & References (one of which must be from an overseeing Pastor)
Over 20 years of age is preferred
Character / Spiritual Maturity – This individual must be committed to living life in the way of Jesus and have a hunger for continual spiritual growth
Relationship status – Due to the housing provisions, single is preferred
We request a minimum of 6 month commitment.
Term extensions (up to one year) are handled on a case by case basis
First formal review after 90 days of service, and quarterly reviews thereafter
Funding & Expectations:
Valley Chapel offers room and board through our sponsor homes. We will also reimburse for expenses incurred in the execution of ministry responsibilities (e.g. gas mileage, approved lunch meetings, etc.)
