Build positive and sincere relationships with college students and nurture the spiritual and personal lives of students of all walks of life and personalities who have both religious and non-religious backgrounds.
Organized, motivated, pro-active, responsible, dependable, with a deep caring for college students and a passion for college ministry.
Strong leadership skills and a vision for Wesley that includes creativity developing new programs, new mission projects, and new ways to reach as many students as possible on the UNM campus and beyond.
Skill and experience in fundraising and growing and expanding a campus ministry.
Follows through on tasks while maintaining open communication pathways with the students, board, local churches and other campus ministries.
Readily accessible to students through set office hours, phone, email and other online communication, enjoys spending time with students and building relationships, ability to counsel students through life struggles and maintain confidentiality, is friendly and loving, and truly cares about Wesley.
Solid theological base with extensive scriptural knowledge, ability to lead Bible studies, is strong in his or her Christian faith, and demonstrates commitment to nurturing his or her own faith journey.
Educational and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required.
Have at least two years experience working with college age students in a Christian environment.
Is computer and contemporary communications literate: can do word processing, work with databases, internet savvy, mass emails, Facebook, texting. Graphic design and web design a plus.
The UNM Wesley House Director position will start as part-time position at 20 hours per week. The position is salaried. Through the fundraising efforts of the director and the board, the goal is to have the position be increased to full-time (40 hours per week) by 2012. Depending on the financial situation, hours may be increased as more money becomes available.
The director will set office hours during the week. The director must be present at posted office hours, so students can have access to the director.
The director will attend student leadership meetings, attend and participate in Bible studies, and be present at as many Wesley sponsored events as possible.
The director will attend all meetings of the UNM Wesley Foundation Board of Directors. The board will help the director define the vision for Wesley in conjunction with the students. The board will evaluate the director on a quarterly basis to see that job expectations are being met, problems are being addressed, successes are being celebrated, to see that God is in the center and that everyone is on the same page. The evaluations will be based on meetings with the President of the Board and surveys of students by the board.
The director will be innovative in creating new ministries that reach out to the students at UNM.
Managing Wesley House as Residence and Meeting Place
The director will work in conjunction with the student House Manager, the property manager of the board and the board treasurer to be a landlord to the residents of the Wesley. The director will collect the rent from the residents on the first of the month.
