Job Description:
The purpose of the Executive Pastor is to assist the Senior Pastor with implementing and coordinating the vision, mission and spiritual direction of Eastbrook Church. The Executive Pastor will be responsible for the oversight of ministries, staff, human resources, budgeting/finances, communications, information technology, and facilities. The Executive Pastor will work closely with the pastoral staff and working group leaders who serve Eastbrook Church. The Executive Pastor reports directly to the Senior Pastor.

Summary
The Executive Pastor at Eastbrook Church involves the following general areas of responsibility:
- Vision & Strategic Direction: assisting the Senior Pastor in the implementation of the vision of the church
- Staff Leadership: serving as a pastor to the Pastoral Staff of the church, guiding and encouraging them through regular contact
- Overseeing Daily Activities: being the first point of contact for staff so that the day-to-day activities move forward and Senior Pastor is focused on overall leadership
- Administration: facilitating the ministry of the church by helping the appropriate staff and teams to establish and execute systems and organization

Detail
The Executive Pastor will fulfill the responsibilities below, and other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Vision & Strategic Direction
- With the Senior Pastor, the Pastoral Staff and the Church Council, identify and articulate the goals, objectives, and strategies of all ministries, and oversee the ministries’ coordinated efforts.
- Equip ministry staff for ministry growth and development with attention to direction, structure, tactics, and resource budgeting.
- Facilitate process for annual review, strategic planning and goal setting for ministry growth and development.
- Participate in Church Council meetings.

Staff Leadership
- Serve as the pastor to the Pastoral Staff of Eastbrook Church.
- Partner with the Senior Pastor in facilitating staff and working group leader meetings.
- Ensure that effective communication is happening within the staff at all levels. Provide counsel as needed in areas of inter-staff conflict resolution.
- Plan regular staff and Church Council gatherings for the purpose of community and building relationships, including retreats.
- Develop a consistent approach to professional development and training of staff.

Human Resources
- Act as liaison between the Senior Pastor, Pastoral Staff and Personnel Committee.
- Take responsibility for the hiring or separation of key staff, and be involved, as appropriate, with hiring and separation of all staff in consultation with Personnel Committee and Senior Pastor.
- Lead prioritization of staff hiring in consultation with Senior Pastor and Personnel Committee.
- Set up interim leadership plans when ministry areas are left without a leader due to an unanticipated change of staff.
- Create and update current job descriptions for all staff members.
- Conduct annual performance reviews of staff with compensation recommendations.
- Recommend necessary changes to the staff policies and employee benefits.
- Meet regularly with working group leaders for updates, accountability, and mentoring.
- In partnership with the Church Administrator, oversee support staff and contracted personnel.

Budgeting/Finances
- Act as liaison for all fiscal activities working directly with Senior Pastor and Church Administrator, and coordinating with the Finance Committee.
- Work with Senior Pastor to determine long-term budget goals and priorities.
- Work with Church Administrator and Finance Committee to initiate, develop and present the annual budget for approval.
- Work with Church Administrator on establishing financial policies.
- Oversee Church Administrator in areas of budget tracking, staff accountability, insurance planning, and capital expenses.
Communications
- Oversee the communications of the church in partnership with the Communications Director; this includes development of coherent internal and external communication plan, setting direction for church publications and printing, and establishing policies and guidelines for communication and social media.

Information Technology
- Oversee the information technology of the church in partnership with Church Administrator; this includes development and execution of IT plan for the future, purchasing and maintenance of equipment and establishing policies and guidelines for use of all church-owned computer equipment.

Facilities and Building Projects
- Assist the Senior Pastor, Treasurer, and Building Committee on facilities and building projects based on ministry needs and vision for the future.
- Coordinate with Church Administrator and Building & Grounds Committee to maintain all church property in good condition and make recommendations for capital improvement.
- Provide direction to Church Administrator for use, maintenance, repair and security of church facilities and grounds.
- Communicating appropriate information to various levels of influencers (staff, partners, Church Council, core leaders, congregation, etc.)

Essential Functions

- The ability to relate with and to develop and keep the trust of other Staff Members, congregants and others in the community.
- The ability to listen to, encourage, admonish, and give trusted guidance to others on staff and in the congregation.
- The ability to think clearly, analytically and critically.
- The ability to understand and to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally (or by its equivalent) and in writing, in English.
- Regular and dependable attendance at work on and off the church campus.
- The ability and availability dependably to attend church services, events and meetings and to attend outside meetings and events related to church business during weekdays and evenings, as well as on weekend days and evenings.
- The ability to maneuver the church campus and to arrive in a timely manner from one place to another, on and off campus, for meetings and events.
- The ability to sit for up to up to six hours in an eight-hour day.
- The ability to stand for up to two hours at a time, several times, in an eight-hour day.
- The ability and availability to do effective home and hospital pastoral visitation.
- The ability to understand and to apply Scripture faithfully in the execution of the responsibilities of the position.
