We have an exciting opportunity for a Bookkeeper / Accountant to join our ministry staff! The Bookkeeper / Accountant seeks excellence and efficiency in all areas and applications as together we go about the business of ministry with professionalism and exemplary stewardship. Working under the direct supervision of the Church Administrator and in harmony with other staff members and ministry team leaders this vital role provides day-to-day operational oversight of the accounting functions that sharpen and finely-tune New Venture’s practical ability to fulfill the church’s vision and mission as established by the Senior Pastor.
New Venture Christian Fellowship is a non-denominational church located in the community of Oceanside, North San Diego County. • Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees the Accounts Payable function, including processing payment vouchers and the processing of checks. The Bookkeeper / Accountant will also provide oversight with the Accounts Receivables function, including the processing and accounting of tithes, contributions, and other ministry income. The inclusion of posting the journal entries into the accounting system is also a detail of internal oversight.
• Ensuring that appropriate & accurate accounting records are maintained in the specific areas of:
1. Accounts payable and receivables.
2. General ledger.
3. Monthly income statement.
4. Bank accounts.
5. Investment and tax reporting.
6. Individual contribution records.
Assist and consult the Church Administrator in developing and preparing the Church budget.
Cooperate with outside auditors in the audit process.
Prepare daily cash reports.
• Education, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in Accounting.
3 - 5 years of accounting experience.
Detail oriented and extremely organized.
Ability to supervise, motivate and support staff.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
A team player who listens, learns, and actively communicates.
A visual thinker good at problem solving and implementing solutions.
• Additional Responsibilities and Expectations:
Commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ.
3-5 years experience in ministry leadership in like church setting preferred; not required.
Passionate celebration and ownership of the mission, vision, values and purposes of New Venture Christian Fellowship and Schools.
Ability to work flexible and /or overtime hours when required completing projects.
Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor, servant’s heart and a can-do attitude.
