First United Methodist Church in Auburn, Indiana is seeking a full time Worship Arts Director. The church currently runs two worship services on Sunday mornings, each seeking to meet the different needs of the community. Our 8:30 am worship service is mostly traditional, while our 10:45 worship service is contemporary in musical style. The Worship Arts Director will oversee our musical groups, our Sunday morning music and worship needs, as well as our sound and media needs. This is a full time 40 hour a week position. Victory - Victory will be experienced when lives are transformed through the music/worship/sound/media/drama and arts ministry in the communication of the love of God to people (hereinafter referred to as “worshiping arts”. Victory is experienced when more people are involved in the worshiping arts ministries and new ministries are developed. We have two current worship services. One uses hymns with the organ/piano and the other uses contemporary music combined with a worship team.
Vital Needs and Goals - The Director will oversee the growing worshiping arts ministry at First Church.
Vision – The Director will fully support the Vision of First Church and seek to strengthen it.
Worship - The Director will give leadership to the worshiping arts ministry using a variety of ways that engage people in the worship of God.
a.) The Director will work on recruiting, training and supervising volunteer directors, worship/song leaders, musicians and other artists in the various areas of the worshiping arts ministry.
b.) The Director will conduct the annual evaluation of the paid organist/musician.
c.) The Director will find training opportunities for the worship arts leaders.
a.) The Director will ensure that leadership is provided for the various worshiping arts groups and individuals. This would include the sound/media groups as well.
b.) The Director will lead and participate in needed worshiping arts meetings.
c.) The Director will play musical instrument(s) as needed for musical groups and services.
It is desired that the Director have a degree in music/worship ministries and experience in directing a variety of musical groups. It is desired that the Director play one or more instruments.
It is desired that the Director have skills in building team leaders of all ages. The Director must have technology skills in the areas of: Multimedia presentation software, working knowledge of sound technology and acoustics and Microsoft 2010.
Vital Accountability/Support – The Worship Arts Director is directly accountable to the Senior Pastor. They will meet together for regular communication and the annual evaluation will be conducted by the Senior Pastor. The Director is a full time salaried position with the expectation that 40 hours be spent in ministry each week.
