Job Description:
Blackhawk is a multi-venue, multi-site church looking for someone to lead adult spiritual development. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the expression of spiritual growth throughout Blackhawk ministries, providing opportunities for discipleship and healthy group life for adults. The ideal candidate will bring visionary and strategic leadership to the position, and should have strong interpersonal management and project management skills.

Blackhawk Church is located in Madison, Wisconsin’s capital city. This Big Ten university city provides an exciting element of diversity and a unique blend of ages in the congregation.

TITLE: Pastor of Adult Spiritual Formation and Group Life


•Create growth environments for adults who are coming from a wide variety of backgrounds and spiritual maturity levels
•Create a culture where it is abnormal for a Blackhawk attender to not be in relationship with others on their spiritual journey
•Be recognized at Blackhawk as a leader of gender-based ministries. Serve as the advocate and coach for volunteer teams that give direction to Men’s and Women’s Ministries
•Provide supervision, coaching and direction to Blackhawk staff in the areas related to adult spiritual growth


•Be a stable, mature, growing disciple of Jesus Christ
•Interpersonal management skills – able to supervise, encourage and coach others
•Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills
•Shall seek to grow and expand spiritually and professionally


•Has a minimum of BS/BA degree. Theological training preferred
•Has 5+ years of experience leading and developing teams in a large church setting
•Is in concert with Blackhawk’s Mission, Values and Statement of Faith
•Has a solid track record of success in the areas of managing people and projects
•Has experience in thinking strategically and is able to anticipate and initiate change
•Primary Gifts / Skill Set: Leadership, Shepherding, Team-building
