Director of Youth Ministries
Centenary United Methodist Church is seeking an energetic, mature, individual with a love for Christ and a passion for sharing that love with middle and high school youth. This full-time position requires an organized, creative individual who has the desire to build a youth program.
The Director of Youth Ministries will...
*facilitate the overall mission of Centenary United Methodist Church by developing, coordinating and implementing programs, activities and studies that lead to the spiritual, social and relational well-being of all youth, grades 7-12.
*serve as the head of Youth Council and work closely with the Senior Pastor.
*be expected to seek opportunities to connect with youth and families and grow the youth program.
*serve as coordinator for Sunday School and all other youth-related activities, programs and events.
*develop programming that utilizes the youths’ spiritual gifts and interests.
*create, schedule and participate in youth-centered activities, including but not limited to: mission trips, community service, semi-annual retreats, conferences, and regular weekly large-group meetings.
*provide regularly scheduled and posted office hours for both youth and family members.
*recruit, train, and coordinate a team of adult leaders and teachers.
*Genuine, maturing relationship with Christ and a strong prayer life
*Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education, Youth Ministry, or closely related field
*Demonstrated experience and success in youth work and Christian education
*A commitment to the ministry at Centenary UMC for a minimum of 3-5 years
*Training and experience in pastoral counseling preferred
*Previous experience in the recruitment of volunteer leaders and a willingness to support and encourage their efforts
*Desire to build relationships with young people and their parents, and be able to interact effectively with members of the congregation and the community
*Must possess excellent written and oral communication and public speaking skills with staff, church committees, youth and their families
*Must be capable of handling confidential information, demonstrate good judgment and act and dress in a professional manner.
*Must be reliable, conscientious, trustworthy, and teachable.
*Set and oversee a youth ministry budget and maintain accurate and current records
*Effectively manage time and stay on-task and within policy guidelines, and have a strong work ethic, as well as possess the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
