Job Description:

Position: Worship Director

Accountable to: Director of Evangelism and Outreach

Responsibilities Include:
*Sharing, communicating and implementing the overall vision (finding and offering hope) and the mission (leading people into a relationship with Jesus Christ) of Church of the Shepherd (COS) within the worship ministry and overall congregational context.

*Direct responsibility for the COS adult worship ministry vision of creating an environment that allows people to worship God, allows people to experience the hope of Christ, and allows the Holy Spirit to change lives.

*Direct responsibility for COS worship ministry goals as developed by/with the Director of Evangelism and Outreach.

*Direct responsibility for Worship Director position goals as developed with the Director of Evangelism and Outreach.

*Managing, facilitating, and leading the COS worship planning process, including the work/meetings of the various worship planning teams, Audio Visual Team (AV Team), and Creative Worship Team.

*Production of all COS adult worship services, as well as managing all the necessary details for those services (appropriate teams/people contacted, securing items needed for worship, children’s choirs performances in worship, etc.).

*Attending all COS worship services (weekly and special).

*Supervision of worship leaders/staff (both paid and unpaid).

*Assuring that a variety of media is used to reach people in the worship experience including music, visuals, sounds, lighting, and congregation participation.

*Participation and teamwork with all COS staff and ministry teams.

*Development and implementation of a personal plan for continued professional growth/training that will have a strategic impact on the COS worship ministry.

*Models standards and expectations of COS leaders including: church membership, worship attendance, small group participation, lifestyle of tithing/generosity, serving out of call/giftedness, living an ethical/moral lifestyle, etc.

*Being, or becoming, a formal church member at COS.

*Values, honors, and respects all people.

Skill Requirements: *Excellent team-based leadership abilities.

*Exceptional communication, relational, and organizational skills.

*Strong knowledge of worship styles and trends.

*Expertise/understanding in cultural trends related to worship.

*Ability to positively facilitate worship leaders/staff (paid and un-paid) to grow in their areas of giftedness.

*Ability to effectively identify gifts of ministry, recruit, and train worship staff/leaders (paid and unpaid) from within the congregation for service in all areas of the COS worship ministry.

*Ability to work effectively in, and contribute to, an overall staff team environment at COS.

*Strong expertise/knowledge in worship media, stage production, and the arts.

*Strong knowledge/experience with MediaShout or similar worship software.

Education and
Experience Requirements:

*Bachelors degree in communication, drama/stage production, video/media, or related field; and/or seminary degree.

*2-3 years paid staff experience in a large church/related ministry setting.
