Services range from homeless & domestic violence shelters, substance abuse programs, disaster relief, summer day camps, after school programs, youth sports camps, Christmas assistance, financial assistance, to senior adult apartments and a youth shelter for at risk children. JOB SUMMARY:
The Minister of Hospitality Manages and monitors assigned caseload of clients seeking social service assistance; develops program plan/goals and evaluates client progress by conducting routine meetings with client and/or staff; serves as advocate for client in order to acquire services that will enable them to functionally cope with their environment; supervises, develops and monitors other case managers and family center staff as needed or as assigned; equips the congregation of The Salvation Army to effectively serve clients in an appropriate manor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supervises Case Management staff in the process of interviewing applicants to determine eligibility for program enrollment based on established guidelines and requirements; conducts needs assessment, obtains pertinent information and establishes program goals for eligible clients; refers applicants to other agencies if not appropriate for program.

Develops intake and case plans for clients; instructs clients in completing necessary paperwork including goals and/or budget forms; completes orientation check-off form and obtains release of information forms when appropriate; completes social history on new clients when admitted; provides immediate social service assistance to eligible clients in the following areas: food, lodging, clothing, furniture and financial assistance and facilitates case managers to do the same.

Supervises all housing ministries/programs of Salvation Army in Arlington.

Supervises security monitors and their schedule; trains new monitoring staff.

Supervises Family Life Center kitchen staff.

Facilitates communication with food service vendors to ensure that appropriate meals are provided for staff.

Works with Corps and administrative staff at appropriate headquarters levels to ensure that funding is secured and reports presented for government contracts and other grants.

Coordinates other government grants and contracts that relate to the well-being of residents in housing ministries.

Prepares and maintains case records and logs on all assigned clients; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.

Meets regularly with clients to discuss and evaluate their progress; prepares accurate and up to date records documenting the same.

Ensures that Case Managers/Case Aids and other staff are fluidly following guidelines for case managers.

Plans, coordinates and/or facilitates life management classes to assist clients in obtaining skills that will enable them to functionally cope with their environment; obtains speakers and workshop presenters as needed.

Assists clients in locating and securing affordable housing and appropriate furnishings.

Conducts an initial home visit after client exits program, within five working days.

Refers clients to appropriate person to facilitate needed repairs and maintenance; conducts routine inspections of living quarters and grounds.

Refers client to appropriate Corps programs or other agencies based on clients needs and in accordance with their program plan.

Completes discharge plans of clients exiting the program; transfers file contents to non-active file; prepares card for follow-up mailing.

Facilitates the involvement of Soldiers and Adherents from Corps Congregation within the ministry of The Family Life Center.

Attends Sunday worship services with the intention of enabling the local Corps Congregation understanding of The Salvation Army’s hospitality ministries.

Attends community meetings with representatives of other agencies in order to educate them about the program, make client referrals and maintain awareness of client progress; serves as client advocate and assists them in obtaining community resources.

Prepares and maintains statistical records on all services provided; compiles and prepares monthly statistical reports; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in developing and revising the service policy manual.

Assists with community services as needed.

Assists in performing social service work for special or seasonal projects.

Performs other related work as required.

Participates in the regular activities of the Corps Congregation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master’s Degree preferred (MA in a related field, or a Master’s of Divinity); Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Behavioral Science, Christian Ministry, Social Justice, Urban Studies, or a related field

and

Two years progressively responsible experience administering and developing social service programs. Experience in a church based ministry is preferred

or

any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
LSW or LMFT preferred
Valid Texas Driver’s License


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of principles and practices of social service case management.

Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol and organizational structure.

Knowledge of social service resources and agencies in the community.

Knowledge of effective communication and motivation practices.

Ability to develop program plans and goals based on clients needs.

Ability to evaluate client progress toward program goals.

Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors.

Ability to interview clients and to obtain pertinent information.

Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and complete case notes and client records.

Ability to plan, organize and prioritize, work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.

Ability to build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with clients and community agencies.

Ability to present the biblical and theological basis for The Salvation Army’s housing ministries.

Ability to keep high levels of confidentiality concerning clients.

Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.

Ability to manage the schedule of case managers, security monitors and kitchen staff.


MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read and write, and communicate the English language effectively.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to think clearly and quickly in order to maintain control of client caseload.

Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple cases at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized.

Ability and willingness to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently.

Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office setting, but requires incumbent to work outside of the office setting on occasion. Working conditions include changes in weather.
