Job Description:
RIVERTREE WORSHIP COORDINATOR

Who are We Looking For?
1. Someone committed to the core essentials of the Christian faith (as represented by RiverTree’s faith statement, and/or The Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds)
2. Someone who agrees wholeheartedly with RT’s core values and mission. (See below, and our church website.)
3. Someone who exhibits a real, ongoing, growing relationship with God
4. Someone with a heartfelt, God-given passion for worship
5. Someone savvy in AVL – audio, video, and lightning – and able to coordinate that team, ideally this includes familiarity with Easy Worship software
6. Someone who is a gifted musician, singer, and worship leader, ideally someone who plays at least two different instruments
7. Someone who is a servant leader and team facilitator, who can coordinate weekly worship teams and leaders (not lead worship themselves each and every week)

What will They Do?
1. Work hand in hand with the Pastor in worship planning.
2. Work with the Worship Team to coordinate the music and AVL aspects of worship
3. Coordinate rotating worship teams, which entails volunteer recruitment and development, among other things
4. Play and sing regularly on Sundays
5. Lead worship regularly on Sundays, and be a key support for other worship leaders when he/she does not

What will We Do for Them?
1. More-than-fair monetary compensation for their ministry
2. A supportive, encouraging core of committed worship volunteers, who take enough responsibility for the worship and AVL ministries at RT that the Worship Coordinator doesn’t have to go it alone or carry too much weight.
3. A positive, collaborative, permission-giving relationship with our Pastor
4. A creative, risk-taking church willing to try new things and step outside the norm
5. A church centered on reaching and serving those disconnected from God

To Whom are They Responsible?
1. Like all staff at RT, their direct supervisor is the Pastor, who is in turn responsible to RT’s Leadership Team.
2. Their ministry partners will be the committed worship and AVL volunteers.

How Much and How Often?
12 hours a week, rate of pay TBD. Two weeks of paid vacation. This makes it a good fit for college and graduate students, or as a 2nd job.

WHO IS RIVERTREE COMMUNITY CHURCH?

RiverTree CC is a “real, rooted, and reaching” church.

“Real” means that RT will be marked by and grounded upon grace, acceptance, authenticity, and inclusion, making RT a safe church for all comers, a church for and full of imperfect people, a church where real people with real problems meet the real God through the real Jesus. RT at its best is a mosaic of diversity, disparate groups who in the world are most often separated but here are held together by their shared commitment to Christ, His scriptures, and the core values of RT.

“Rooted” means that each committed attender is expected to grow closer to God and other RTers within the church family, but in a manner suitable to where they are in their own spiritual journey. Said in the verbiage of our life verses (Jeremiah 17.7-8), they will continue to grow into “rivertrees.” Also, “rooted” means that RT’s ministry will be founded upon and driven by its committed attenders, not only or primarily by professional staff, for all “rivertrees” should and will produce good fruit for the sake of others (see again Jer. 17.7-8).

“Reaching” means that RT will prioritize above all else its mission to reach the unaffected with the good news of Jesus. We will “reach” by inviting the unaffected to our worship gatherings and into our church family, and by planting acts of Christ-like love and service into their lives out in the community. The “unaffected” is a term that covers several distinct groups of people: spiritual seekers who know very little about Christianity, those who are minimally Christian but now yearn for more, those who have been hurt or turned off by church, and those faithful Christians who have yet to find a church family with whom they can grow, serve, share life, and be on mission in the world.

In order to be a fully “real, rooted, and reaching” kind of church, RTCC has made two more fundamental and enduring commitments:

1) RT will use its money (and other resources) more on ministry and people than on property or professional staff. This ministry and generosity will occur both within and outside of the RT family.

2) RT will grow numerically in such a way that our smaller, personal, welcoming size, with all of its inherent advantages, isn’t compromised.
