Position: Director of Children’s Ministries

Salary: TBD, part-time, hourly 15-19 hours per week
Position Summary: To provide leadership and support for Children’s Ministry, birth through sixth grade; and as a member of Children’s Ministry Team (CMT), participate in the program development and vision. Position reports to Pastor Scott Sund and is accountable to Pastor Earl Radford through the CMT.
Faith and Calling: Demonstrate a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord consistent with the basic tenets of faith, and a genuine sense of God’s call to this ministry and service.
Essential Functions: Essential functions may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills.
Implement and direct the Children’s Ministry program, including on-site coordination.
Oversee all aspects of children’s ministry record keeping.
Publicize ministry programs to the congregation and community.
Ensure a safe and welcoming Children’s Ministry environment.
Implement and communicate policies and procedures.
Recruit, train, motivate, encourage and hold accountable volunteers.
Lead volunteers to develop and nurture relationships with children and their families.
Problem solve relational and program differences.
Participate as a member of CMT, working with the chair to inspire members and lead program development.
Encourage children’s participation in and appreciation of worship and praise.
Communicate and partner effectively with other ministries and staff within the church to accomplish ministry goals.
Participate in regular meetings with supervisor, staff, CMT and the CMT chair.
Respond to questions or concerns from the congregation with timeliness and clarity.
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience directing a children’s program of approximately 75 participants. Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education or a related field or equivalent experience. Experience in the field of Christian Education preferred.
Design, development and implementation of a Children’s Ministry program.
Computer software programs, i.e. MS Office.
Principles and practices of recordkeeping.
Preparation and maintenance of department budget.
Safety practices in child health and welfare.
Christian Education publishers/curriculum.
Computer software programs at a proficiency, which allows for successful completion of tasks.
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Building strong relationships with a diverse population.
Organization, prioritizing and ability to meet deadlines.
Working effectively under pressure of multiple demands.
Problem resolution, decision-making and conflict management.
Implementing programs, policies and procedures.
