Calvary Church is located in Eastern Iowa on the banks of the Mississippi River. We are conveniently located between the Quad Cities and Iowa City, home of the University of Iowa. Our congregation is a Christ-centered, evangelical body that has experienced significant growth over the past 10 years. With this growth has come several challenges and opportunities to more effectively manage and align our ministries. However, we have never lost our focus on Christ as the only way to salvation.
Our purpose is clearly stated as “connecting people with God to be fully committed to the cause of Christ.” We seek to accomplish this goal by carrying on Jesus’ strategy for training his followers and building his church. Calvary hopes to train disciples just as Jesus did who will be Connected
with God, in Community
, and, ultimately, fully Committed
to the Cause of Christ.
Our facility, totaling over 180,000 sq. ft. on 22 acres, is at the site of the former Hilltop Plaza, a strip mall that included two large anchor stores. We are strategically located near the intersection of Highways 38 and 61 with great visibility and is passed by 1,000s of vehicles each day. The auditorium has a seating capacity of 840 and is expandable to over 1,000. For the 2009-2010 ministry year, we averaged around 800 people per weekend in the worship services . We currently have two services, one on Saturday night and one on Sunday morning. Both services would be considered a contemporary worship service.
