Job Description:
Children’s Ministry Pastor/Director

Overview of New Community Church

New Community Church is a biblically-based inter-denominational church of approximately 700 (attendance) located in Wexford, PA (20 miles north of Pittsburgh).

Our history began as a contemporary, seeker-driven church, influenced by the Willow Creek movement. As our people have looked for increased depth, we have trended toward what we call “Creative-Traditionalism.” By this we mean that we embrace traditions and seek to bring them to people in ways that breathe freshness into them. We would not self-describe as ‘churchy.’

The average person who comes to our church is a relatively affluent professional person who has a college education or above. They are high-achievers whose commitment to serving drives our church forward.

We fall into the trend of Evangelicalism with our pastors being educated at Gordon-Conwell, Trinity Episcopal School of Ministry and Fuller Seminary.

Our staff places a high value on relationships and we would describe our team as approachable. It is important that new members of the team be life-long learners and hungry for finding new ways of doing ministry effectively. Our staff takes God and ministry very seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously and enjoy laughter.

With all this taken into account, the most important quality of anyone joining New Community Church in this position is a passionate love for God, His people, and for children. The person who is successful in this position has a call from God to lead the teams who serve children and their families in the church and community.

We strive to make New Community Church a place of joy.

Overview of Family Ministries

At New Community Church families both within and outside of our church are a priority. We believe in coming alongside parents in the spiritual development of their children from cradle to college and beyond. We desire all homes to have Christ-centered, faith-focused families. Our mission in Family Ministries is to:

•Partner with parents

•Help families grow faith in the home

•Grow children and teenagers in Christ (raising children of faith, grace, love, character and integrity)

Our mission comes from Deuteronomy 6: 4-7, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them upon your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
