Title of Position: Student Ministries Pastor

Purpose of Position:
To carry out ECF Church’s vision of spiritual formation for Student Ministries - Junior & Senior Highs (6th through 12th Graders) AND Young Adults (19 through 29 years old) by creating a thriving environment where students become Christ’s disciples and ready for life after high school.

Reports To: Family Pastor

Responsible for: Youth Assistants, Young Adults Ministry Director and ALL Adult Leaders;
o Complete directional oversight of Student Ministries
o Complete oversight of all matters in regard to YOUTH Corporate Service(s)

Time Required by Position: 40+hrs per week

Gross Salary: Based upon ECF Church Salary Structure and Commensurate with Experience

Continuing Responsibilities and Duties:

• To reproduce the heart of the Lead Pastor within ECF Student Ministries;
• To set the vision and direction of Student Ministries (“Decision” Youth and “29below” Young Adults) in co-operation
with the Lead Pastor and the Administrative Pastor;
• To teach and demonstrate the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit within ECF Student Ministries;
• To consistently teach the foundational principles of faith;
• To plan and prepare a relevant, Biblically sound message each week;
• To develop leadership within “Decision” Youth Ministry;
• To recruit, develop, mentor, and equip Youth Assistants and adult/young adult leaders to carry out the work of the ministry;
• To train, and develop youth leaders as youth mentors, small group leaders, and ministry team leaders;
• To provide leadership oversight (growth and development) of the ministry of helps teams;
• To provide pastoral care for all students, youth assistants, and adult leaders;
• To equip, encourage, and partner with parents as they raise their teens;
• To create an environment for students to connect with one another through small groups and fun activities on and off ECF Church campus;
• To create an environment for students to connect with other students in their everyday life and give them an opportunity to invite their friends;
• To work closely with Children & Young Adults Ministry Directors in order to create smooth transitions for students entering and leaving Youth Ministry, as well as to promote a family atmosphere;
• To research, develop, coordinate, and promote all aspects of Youth Ministry;
• To connect and work with other youth ministry directors/pastors and youth organizations in the area to be most effective in reaching the community as The Church;
• To plan, coordinate, and promote annual special events (i.e. Summer Getaway, Winter Weekend, Missions Trips);
• To stay current on youth culture and trends;
• To provide the Administrative Pastor, on a regular basis, with written reports accurately reflecting the status of Student Ministries (including all key ministry areas and personnel issues);
• To develop “29below” Young Adults Ministry of Erie Christian Fellowship Church;
• To monitor the “pulse” of 29below and using research, planning and strategies for growth; develop a vibrant group of young people excited about serving God and serving His Church;
• To research, plan, organize and complete consistent social and outside activities for 29below;
• To develop ways to integrate 29below participants into the adult congregation of Erie Christian Fellowship;
• To attend scheduled monthly staff meetings;
• To uphold confidential matters within ECF Church by dispersing information through proper channels;
• To demonstrate enthusiasm for the Youth Ministry offsite and onsite of ECF Church Campus;
• To demonstrate a loyalty to the corporate ECF Church team;
• To become a faithful tither to ECF Church.

Primary Strength, Gifts, and Skills Required:

o Must be a Spirit-filled believer in accordance with Acts 2:4;
o A heart for God, His people, and His Church;
o Passion for young students and young adults;
o Having work experience in the marketplace. Seminary OR Bible training is preferred but not required if the candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to Christian life and the Word of God;
o Cooperative Team Player/Relational, pastoral, tactful and discreet;
o Must be able to relate well to parents of teenagers;
o Ability to maintain a healthy balance between business and ministry;
o Ability to function as an integral part of the pastoral/administrative team;
o Action oriented & able to maintain composure under pressure;
o Self starter and spiritually mature;
o Proficient in MS Office Software (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point).
